Got skunked last night. On the way out on the oil well road I saw a 110” 8 point and two does.. sitting at my uncles tonight ready to go on a doe.. hopefully we will have some more points in a few hours. Sitting on standing corn next to freshly harvested bean field connected to a big wood lot..

Well had a good night but deer didn’t cooperate. Saw a good buck guessing 8-10 point pushing 130’s (was at 300yards) and 9 does they all walked down the edge of that cut bean field and towards the next piece of property. He walked out at 6:15 and didn’t slow pace or mill around much... those deer walked past 3 prepped trees I could have been sitting in... dang it... I fully expected the deer to hit the corn field before they went out for the night.. I did have a 6pt and small yearning doe in shooting range in the corn.

Back at it tomorrow and Thursday start night turn on Friday.

Love the confidence!

What's everyones plans for the weekend? We are supposed to have a huge warm front come through for 12 hours or so on saturday and then drop 35+ degrees by sunday morning. I'm going to try and head out Sunday morning and see what happens. Lots of good bucks on the cameras, but I've only been able to get out once so far. Been a busy fall so far.

Saw a good buck on Wednesday have same wind tonight so going to set up on him.. goi to be reluctant to whack a doe.. he came out at 6:15 Wednesday so if he’s not out and it’s getting close to closing time I plan to take a doe.. I start night turn tomorrow won’t get back out till next Tuesday Wednesday Thursday

Well I half called the shot.... radar lied, rain picked up... as I sat there against the tree having a pitty party I see the buck at the edge of the woods.. he was being very cautious not like he was on Tuesday.. he started across the field and I got set up to get ready for the shot.. he hung up around 80 yards and kept looking down the field. I didn’t have a good view of him because the leaves on the tree to my right but as fast as he was there he was gone.. I don’t believe he got my wind unless I had an u lucky swirl as I was dropping milk weed all night and knew where I needed to shoot him by. I did have a doe come in right at last legal light but tracking/processing a deer in the rain by myself didn’t sound appealing. Supposed to be cold tonight down to 31. I’m probably going to hunt in the morning somewhere. I’m happy that my plan kinda worked makes me feel somewhat in the game.

Wasn’t expecting to get out this afternoon due to a family lunch but ended up getting home early enough to get out for a short sit. I had a good wind to go in with the kayak to set up on the same apple tree I hunted a couple weeks ago. Well, the sign was not as hot. No apples left on the tree and all of them were cleaned up off the ground. Since I was getting in later than normal, I was committed to setting up there. I did find a nice track coming down to the apple tree so I played the hand that was dealt and set up in a tree just 1.5 sticks in the air to stay concealed but still be high enough to shoot over the top of the brush.

Had a doe come in perfect at 20 yards about 6:00. I needed it to take 2 steps down the path it was coming in on for a chip shot broadside shot. Unfortunately, it took a right and headed straight at me at which point it pegged me and my pasty white face staring at it ready to draw. After a head bob stare down, it took off back in the direction it came from. It didn’t blow but it sure wasn’t diggin what I looked like either.

Fun encounter, just not the outcome I was hoping for.

Got out Sunday morning and thought there would be more movement, but didn't see anything even with a big cold front coming through.. That's how she goes sometimes.

Hunted the rain this morning, 200 yards behind the house. Got in before daybreak, they usually come through about 8ish, with the rain I expected a little later then usual. Sat til 930 and started to pack things up, boom deer starts blowing as soon as I reach to pull my arrow off the rest..... joker was only 60 yards, I never saw what it was though, only saw the tail.... headed back out now!

Well fellas back in the woods.. have 3 nights to hunt then looks like I’m going to have to work 7 straight before my rutcation... may get one morning sit in... set up on this cut bean field throwing one more sit at this buck I saw here twice last week. saw some new fresh rubs and scrapes walking in. Hoping he slips up tonight

Quick clean kill he was dead where I heard him crash.. he came in from behind me and by the time I heard him with the soft wet leaves he was directly behind me at 15 yard. He was down in a ravine so it was a pretty steep shot angle. By the time I saw him he was smelling my path I walked in on I spun around thought he was decent and let one fly.. He’s a decent 3.5 year old but I’m a little disappointed had I seen him walk in and had time to evaluate I wouldn’t have probably shot him. But everything happens for a reason and I’m happy I made a good shot on him.. on too doe patrol and maybe an out of state trip now.
