"The official saddle hunting backpack thread"

Curious if anyone has the height/width/depth dimensions on the new design tool bucket? I’ve only seen the volume listed anywhere.

i have a superday and want something less unwieldy in the tree. Not sure if either the tool bucket or MR treehouse would be an upgrade in that regard?

I don’t have the dimensions handy, but I have the new tool bucket and had a superday. I’ll take the tool bucket any day. I was originally concerned about the lack of waist belt, but it carries great and. Not having the belt is a plus once up in the tree.

Hi all just recently got the Eberlestock H31 Bandit, anyone else running this and have a better idea for stick attachment?

I run the sticks along the sides and use a bungee to hold the bottom end of the sticks.

Any one Sticker's use a fanny pack or small pack? I really want to find a fanny pack that will hold a stick but also not spend 100+. Is this possible?

Timber hawk guthook would work for one stick I believe. Saw one on Rokslide not long ago for less than $50. It has a beaver tail type keeper.

Have you looked for a used Badlands Monster? There are a couple on eBay

The variety of packs to analyze and fit to one's needs is overwhelming.

My needs:
Do not intend to pack out any part of animal beyond the heart.
#1 use is for a solid, efficient place to attach and carry sticks and Treesuit (preferably to outside of pack).
Obviously a place for small hunting kit.
Some room for layers but happy to lash stuff to outside also. Don't need a giant suitcase on my back!
Possibly a place to carry bow were I to bike in (with sticks/platform also attached).
No current filming gear. This may change but I'm ok with getting a different pack if it does (Eberlestock X2 seems to be a consensus pick in this regard).

Currently I have:
Gameplan Gear Full Rut - Too heavy at 4.5 lbs and no waist belt to reduce felt weight. Awesome pockets and attachment points are great for sticks/platform/bow.

Alps Outdoorz Crossbuck - awesomely light at 1.5ish lbs and plenty big enough for my kit & early season clothes. Limited pockets and poor attachment points for sticks/platform/bow. No waist belt to reduce felt weight. No way to carry all three big items at once while biking. 2 of 3 only.

Horn hunter G2 has my eye. So does the Kuiu Venture 1800. Really want it to be sub 4 lbs. Have a waist belt and great attachment capacity.

Appreciate any commentary or insights.

If there are any companies listing.... A dedicated pack that holds a platform and sticks with a frame would be great. The frame does not need to be stout but enough to hold shape when packing gear. Top and bottom side straps with some molle webbing. 1500 to 2000 cubic inches and real shoulder straps would be nice. Please and thank you for listening.

Picked up a Hill People Gear Terahumara to use as a quick, grab and go type setup. This bag is small, but I think it’ll work out well for what I’m doing with it. A predator platform Is strapped to the back, 4 hawk helium 20” sticks on the bottom. I have some G-hooks in the mail to hook to the bottom tabs to hang the sticks (Using a temporary setup with side release buckles right now). Inside the pack I have room for everything I’d need for an all day sit, along with an extra top layer. If I’m packing bibs or a heavy jacket I’ll just strap them to the outside. I’m usually not going too far from the truck, so I think this will work out nicely. I typically wear the saddle in and I’m using 8mm oplex ropes so it’s not too bulky. I haven’t seen anyone post any good pics of a terahumara with sticks/platform so I wanted to share mine.

I used to use an older quiet fabric backpack when I used my stand, just bungie it on. This year, early, I used a fanny pack, and shoulder sling for sticks. not really liking that. mid to now, I have used my Exo 3300, nice frame pack, but noisy for the whitetail woods, and larger then I would like to hang in the tree. A buddy uses the cabellas transporter mentioned on the previous page. its basically all he uses all season. I think something similar, but with a way to strap sticks on would be nice. I'm using beast sticks, and I think like most of the new sticks, I don't really like how they pack. you either have standoffs digging into the pack, or the steps digging into your neck and lower back. I have found I need the waist belt to take the weight off my shoulders, so a frame type pack is really nice, but just wish there where more quiet fabric options. might have to make my own bag some day that would go on my exo frame. hmmmmmm

I'm running an Alps trailblazer. Modded the compression straps on the bottom in each side to have a buckle. It's been working, but not ideal

Can you expand on this not working? I have the same pack ready to go but yet to use it yet. Not too stoked on the lack of pockets (probably add something on the front lower molle) and i was immediately going to do the same thing and make the lower compressions clip instead. I have an idea or 2 for that that might be better than just swapping on some buckles.

I have gone through 7 packs trying to find the right one. It took the Badlands Superday Pack (which if someone is interested PM me) to make me realize the problem.

They are all made for men...oh DUH! and the torso length was too long.

So I googled for a womens backpack and found one at ALPZ called the Allure, yeah I know... but no pink on it thank God. Its great because the torso length is designed for women and its a quality pack.

So if yall are thinking about one for your female hunting partner check it out.

Hey y’all. Has anyone tried the Slumber Jack Hone pack for sticks and platform?
