Got to shoot a BPS back in the early 90's a bit and it was fine duck gun.
I would put newish in front of 870 but otherwise agree.Yeah, my dad's boss can shoot anything he wants and has Franchis, Berettas, Benellis, Brownings, etc. 90% of the time he totes an ole Ithaca.
What I think we can agree on is an 870 is garbage and a Nova is ugly garbage.
forgot the 500.... ;-)What I think we can agree on is an 870 is garbage and a Nova is ugly garbage.
What we need is for Browning to copy it but make it bottom eject like the BPS. Why shuck shells in your buddies face when you can just shoot them into the floor of the blind?
The 220 is my dedicated deer slayer, I dont do much turkey hunting. To be honest I dont turkey hunt at all.Wait are you using your 220 for turkeys??
Edit: Ahh I see they now have a dedicated turkey gun. Wasn't a thing when I got my 220. Dayum this site!
Misread your original post, thanks for the clarification. 220 is my dedicated deer gun as well. Flat out tack driverThe 220 is my dedicated deer slayer, I dont do much turkey hunting. To be honest I dont turkey hunt at all.
And any of you that dont like the mossberg 500, for shame!! I've had my 500 20 gauge since I was 12 and it still works as good as the day I got it. Many a pheasant, squirrel, and grouse fell to that gun. Also the one turkey I've ever shot I got with that thing. Love it.
The Ilion NY made Remingtons are/were the best made of all the Remingtons. The bluing on the Ilion guns (before they started to do that matt finish on the express models) was/is absolutely beautiful. I'm of the age when gun bluing and walnut stocks were what you hunted with. Anyway, the 1187 was Remington's first consumer "Parkerized" finished gun with the oiled stock instead of the shiny walnut. I'm not sure the wood was true walnut on these but anyway, it was one of the first subdued guns of the time but that parkerized finish holds up well. It is what they put on their military trench guns from WWII to Vietnam. Soon after I believe they went away from the parkerizing process and just incorporated that matt finish on their guns like the express models which to me, is a cheap out but I know a lot of guys who have them and still use them for deer, ducks and turkey every year. You can't beat the double action bars on the 870.Yeah, Mines a super mag. Think it was like 375ish at the time.. it was not on my regret list, I was just commenting i have one that is kind of a pos, but functions flawlessly, as some mentioned was a purchase they regret. And I do think it is a better shotgun than the mossberg 500...but notnlooking to start that debate
"George is getting upset!"Sojourner wants to know, does Nutterbuster always refer to himself in the third person? Sojourner thinks that is weird.
