My current concern I’m trying to get a feel for is the likelihood of breaking a shoulder at 40 yards with my current setup (640 , 342 IBO, . 29” DL) Perhaps some people have tried it with this larger cutting diameter head and can share their experiences . The last thing I want to do is “bonk” a shoulder at 40-45 yards .
You’ll break all the shoulders you want, no problem. My slight hesitation with wide two blades came from a deer shot with a compound and a Simmons. I shot her high and she fell in a pile but wasn’t quite dead. I climbed down and shot a second arrow. The broadhead must’ve caught on the wide side of the edge just before the tip entered. The arrow sliced probably a foot of hide open before shooting through the woods. It’s made me think about angles ever since.
I prefer a VPA or similar. I believe there are right/left beveled three blades out there but never bothered. All of which I believe are cheaper than Silver Flames.
