Tethrd and John Eberhart

I always thought someone should create a drinking game or contest. @phatkaw could referee or moderate:
See how long it would take one to become inebriated:
1. Watch an Eberhart video and take a drink every time certain key words are mentioned: record book bucks, scent control, scentlok, hunting pressure , other hunters, a reference to how much pressure the deer get in Michigan, etc.
2. Watch a HB video and take a drink every time certain keys words are mentioned: buck beds, bedding areas, beast gear, beast sticks, etc.

I’m in... ;)

(Nobody drives afterwards!)

“Picked” do at your own risk.

I know this will sound cliche, but no judgement over here when I say this. That being said…laughing about a guy getting multiple DUI’s (I’m assuming) isn’t really a laughable matter. I hope he’s learned his lesson. And I do hope whatever has led to those decisions is getting better on your end @phatkaw You seem like a good-natured dude from what I’ve seen on here.

In the meantime, I’m glad we’re able to learn from the expertise you’ve picked up during your lockdown.

Edit…I don’t think anyone is laughing at the DUIs…just I don’t see an ankle monitor as something really chuckle-worthy, ya know…

Of course it isn't, and it took me a good 5 minutes to even figure out what you were referencing as I hadn't really read the thread.

You are correct… most of us are usually laughing at his shoes… in most of his climbing pics he has shoes with added ventilation  don’t you @phatkaw

For the record - I did have a DUI back in '95.
It was Memorial Day night, I was coming around a long turn and met someone coming the other way on my side of the road. I swerved to get outta their way and smashed into a big tree. I was lucky to live through that crash! (I almost didn't)
Just because I had beer on my breath it made it a DUI and my fault. Even though I was UNDER the legal limit and the other person never stopped...
I hardly ever drink and when I do it's 1 or 2, sometimes 3 and that's pretty much it...

@Apex7 I had no intention on this happening to your thread and I wish I could've came to the event!

: came back to add : All of that ^^^ cost me a month and a half in the hospital, the rest of the summer in a wheelchair, and 90 days in the County Jail...

Specifically, Fairchild and Dalton’s comments…I just think anything that necessitates an ankle bracelet isn’t super funny.

My wife’s cousin was killed by a drunk driver on the way to her high school graduation party. Hits home is all…

Very sorry to hear that. I talk to phatkaw pretty regularly and I would definitely vouch to say he’s the kind of guy that has good intentions and seems to learn from past mistakes and experiences. As long as he’s not grilling hotdogs in which case, he’s still working on improving that one
Just teasing @phatkaw

Hey, just want to reiterate that I’m not trying to put @phatkaw down with these comments. Just guys seemed giddy and comical to hear a story about something that is probably pretty serious.

I don’t really know @phatkaw, but what I do know about him from interaction on this site I respect and like.

In regard to John Eberhart I like many have found is presentation very arrogant in the past while continuing to respect his opinions and accomplishments. Recently he was a guest on the East meets West podcast and damn if he didn't come across as a normal guy, I actually listened to the whole interview. Maybe he's adjusting to the criticism he's received. Regretfully I wasn't able to make it to the gathering at Bucks and Bows, although I pointed it out to 2 fellow western Pa hunters who enjoyed it and found it enlightening enough to realize the benefits of saddle hunting.

Same feeling. Had a different vibe to him on Beau’s podcast.

I dunno I feel like he's always run a bit hot and cold in terms of presentation arrogance. I haven't listened to that interview, but in the past I feel like it's depended on context and mood.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the recent podcast he did, but before he recited the 50 book bucks line he did say I know people are getting sick of hearing this lol. So at least hes self aware

Some of his presentations do sound like you all have described. But…. He’s got the chops to back it. He definitely is a wealth of info and his method and opinions in saddles is what led me to be interested in saddle hunting a few weeks ago. It also led me to the idea of two panel saddles, which ultimately led me to a dryad saddle.
