2022-2023 Duck Thread

He's ready. On to boat manners.
Been doing that since day 1. He's pretty good for an 80lb beast in a 1436

He really just needs to grow up. Still got the puppy sillyheadedness pretty bad sometimes. But he's starting to mellow. I think he'll shape up this year if I can actually find some birds to shoot. Last year was rough.

Lol, no. That pic was taken 4 days before your boy Thomas called me while I was on my way home and asked me to pull over and hang out a bit because he was having motor issues

He got it back running and when he made the hill he called to let me know and I headed on home. If he hadn’t gotten it running he had zero prayer of getting out of there. You can see the current ripping thru those trees…..

Those Sumterites keep things interesting sometimes.

Early goose this morning…..

Tomorrow I'm riding out to go see if/where we we have teal. Looks like the rice made good this year. There's a new flat of it I haven't seen before that may be good. Close enough to a park to make folks shy about hunting it but far enough to be legal

We needed two more guns for sure. We were landing them 8-10 yards in front of the blinds, but one guy has 20 fresh stitches in his knee and he was wasn’t very maneuverable. In hindsight, we should have put him in the middle because he could really only shoot right in front.

We had to set up 90° to the wind that’s why we set the spread to land them in our lap.

Killed 4 of 7, 3 of 3, 6 of 50+ and 4 of 5. The group of 50+ landed 5 yards behind the blinds on the other side of the fence. One landed in the decoys. We let stitches take the one in front and the other two of us popped up and took 5 out of the big flock.

I done did a bad thing.....

I bought a shotkam. :)

I'm a very mediocre shot. I've improved since buying a one-step clay thrower. Been kicking around either trying to join a local sporting clays club, pay for lessons, or buy a shotkam and see if seeing what I do wrong helps any.

$60 off and a 30-day return window that will get me through teal season tripped my switch. Plus, I think it'd be cool-as-crap to get some footage of birds folding up.

They're uber cool. I've had one for 2 years in feburary. Shot clays with it, dove, ducks, geese, crows. I'm shipping mine off this week, something has happened with the battery. Still in its 2 year warranty period.

Nice. I usually make one biggish waterfowl purchase per year. I was torn between an automatic jerk rig device and this. Looks like I'll be jerking it myself this year...

Sitting here in the truck, listening to some ELO and feeling the coffee course through my veins, waiting on the old man so we can go shoot the 3 teal that live in the delta.

Roll tide!!
