TEAM 1 THREAD

Just got done with a speed scouting mission (3 miles total). The military base I hunt has some amazing deer and deer numbers. Some of the areas are not easily accessible but with a mountain bike you can cover a good amount of area if you are in decent shape. There has been a section I wanted to cover for a few years now and today was the day. The wait was very disappointing haha. Didn't find one buck rub. Found a ton of deer tracks, etc. but nothing in the way of good buck sign. This area is a massive clear cut and is great doe bedding. In the rut its an amazing area to hunt near to see a lot of deer and some good bucks. Today I proved the north side of this section is most likely a bust and I will remain on the lower south side as I normally do. The problem is so does everyone else but they stick to the open oaks which is where the deer like to come out and feed in the evenings. I always get right between those hunters and the deer so I get a crack at them first. Its always a ground hunt but its usually pretty intense if its the right time of year.

I’ll be hunting primarily Missouri. But the last couple of years we have gone to Mississippi on some private land of a friend in late season.

Here's another one... who is hunting for meat this year and who is hunting for antlers?

I aim to fill our freezer with whatever crosses close enough.

I always try to get a doe down pretty early and then my buck standards start a little high but go down each day of the season that passes. It’s not that I am hunting antlers but, I only get one archery buck tag so It takes a decent buck to make me sit on the couch most of the fall. As more of the season passes, the buck that is required for me to tag out gets smaller and smaller.

I'm the same way. I also start off with a bow in hand and great hopes but end up toting the 12 into the woods if things don't pan out early.

I’m hunting for both. I usually take several does. Love the meat. Also provide several deer to feed the hungry if possible. But still love taking that good buck!!
