Tomorrow will be trial run on this system, very streamline and light i think im gonna like it

My only caution is I hate having the standoff of the stick facing the back of my head. Speaking from personal experience if you lose your footing and fall those sharp standoffs will do a number on the back of your head/neck.

Valid point, most of my terrain is pretty good going, however when i am going into unfamiliar terrain i can turn steps horizontal.

That's exactly why I ordered Shikars.

and also the stand's teeth even closer to the head

this is a concern if you've ever taken a hard fall in the woods

you can flip it upside down (will ruin the shelf system) or cover the stand teeth like i did on my lone wolf assault, you can take a pool noodle and cut to size then cut one side like a hoagie bun, put something reasonably tough inside (I layered some duct tape with a layer of cloth) and then figure out a way to hold it on the teeth (i used a rubber wire)

i can’t believe places don’t sell or include a leather sheath for the teeth

like for a hatchet

now that ya said it, tethrd will have a gen 1, 2, and 3, by next fall! In all seriousness tho, I have fallen as well and taken a stand off/tree stand to the neck and head and that was a rude awakening.

How about a rubber hose with a slit cut into it?

that would work better than my pool noodle contraption or work well inside the pool noodle....pool noodle cushions your head pretty nicely

I dont worry about things like that, you could fall and impale a stick through yourself or smash your head against a rock..a tree could fall and it'd be over.im just careful and methodical in my travel. Ive carried every hang on this way without issue If i worried about every bad thing that could happen id just stay in and watch hunting shows on tv

Well extending that line of reasoning....why wear seat belts?

Most of our safety stuff is foreseeing dangerous events and preventing bad things. Having metal spikes touching your head and walking around on snowy hills is worse than running around with an unsheathed knife because at least if you fall you'll be able to toss the knife on the way down.

I get this feedback sometimes when I see something others do not.

For instance, I was at a pool party and the host had a boombox plugged in to 120V AC and 1 foot from the pool and sitting atop a folding chair. The cord was up in the air and kids were jumping over the cord and swimming in the pool. I suggested they move the boombox away from the pool and you'd think I'd just farted in the Queen's face. They dismissed me because they didn't want to feel as though someone else had seen something they'd missed.

I’m a fan of the occasional pool noodle padding, it’s ultra light, sometimes I secure it with a releasable ziptie. Doesn’t seem to be a bad solution here.

What if your tether breaks then your back up breaks? Do we run 3 or 4 backups? I wasn't trying to compare to seat belts but thats proven science. Let me give you this example...a bunch of out of state do gooders saw families riding in the back of a pick up and didnt care for it so they lobbied legislation and its now illegal. There is no recorded case of a fatality or injury in our record keeping history....i think everyones ideas about the sharp edges are great and to each there own. I was simply saying i dont sit and worry about a chain of events like this, id feel like i was in a final destination movie
