Got on a river Saturday after the MI saddle hunter meetup. Brought my tenkara and my 5 weight fly rod, and ended up using my tenkara cause it's easier to set up and get going right away. I caught 2 teeny fish, would have fit right in with whoever here is doing the micro fishing! A couple of fish ate at the surface, and a monster was just a few feet from me for a moment but wouldn't take anything I threw it's way.
Def should have used the fly rod, the water was just too big for the tenkara and I had to wade halfway across the river to even get within tenkara casting range, when I could have hit those spots with my fly rod no problem. Lesson learned, but it was fun to get out there on the water again.
@Nutterbuster it's a really cool feeling to catch fish using a fly you tied, welcome to the fly tying world!
