Where Do Platforms Go From Here?

I had more scout like platforms in mind from the description @MattMan81 gave.

I am hoping/planning on trying 2 or 3 pursuit around a tree and see how it does.
Honestly I want more depth than the pursuit or scout. I want a predator cut in half on two posts. Problem is I guess, would be more post than platform weight. I image to make it solid, you would need a good post. So you would end up carrying in more post than platform. Or would require two straps to make it all secure enough and offset the simplicity. Not worth the effort in the end. Just carry a bigger platform..

Maybe just get away from a post for this idea. That's a lot of leverage to counter though. It's an interesting idea

I've kind of been kicking an idea for something somewhat similar around. Maybe I'll actually do a little testing instead of slacking off thinking about it at work :tearsofjoy:

I got plenty of ideas for new platforms but I can't share them cause then I can't make a million dollars off of all u suckas

Patents flying this way and that.... cease and desist orders....unholy alliances and backdoor dealings ....

U can keep all that mess

The ridged post with a couple V shaped things and a strap is getting pretty played out.
Is that the Jell-O platform you were talking about before in our private messages? Take and bake, shake and bake, then hang and hunt with the Jell-O Jigglers platforms? It's the Jell-O ROS! Goes around the tree!

Get to your stand 3 hours early, make sure it's cold enough outside for the Jell-O to set at the right temperature, bring a pot of boiling water, your plastic platform mold, and get after it? Ingenious!!!

(Sorry, didn't mean to share if you weren't ready to go public yet.....it's just such a great idea I couldn't keep it to myself any longer.)

Not for the southern boys.

I really like the Pursuit. I have the Gen 1 but don't experience the flex others seem to have but I am planning on getting another one GEN II. This with with four Gen III Tethrd One Sticks and I'm going to be running a superlight setup.

What are your thoughts or plans on the two pursuit platforms? When I tried one I thought putting them on the tree at 8/7 and 5/4 o'clock on the tree and tethering in between them, feet on the inside edges or in the gap. Then you could walk around the tree and use them more normally too

I haven't thought about it but I may try that this year too. They're certainly light enough to carry two and you could bind them together with the OCB buckle and strap them to your pack. They are so light two wouldn't be bad I wouldn't think to carry at all. I could probably set up in bigger trees too if I seriously considered doing that.

Hoping to stir up a good discussion. What are your thoughts about where platforms are or should go from here?

Lighter, more compact, different dimensions?

Any choice immediately brings its trade offs. You can’t eat your cake and have it too (yes, that’s the right way to say that.

I’ve read some guys lamenting over the “camming” style of platform. If so, what else is there?

My main request would simply be more ergonomic footprints or dimensions, but I hope the discussion goes deeper than that.

To me the place with the most opportunity for development is in hybrid stand/platforms. There are some configuration options there that would solve a lot of issues and no one to this point has really come close to building it, imo.

I would like the Vader, a Predator in carbon fiber. Hunting in December in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, even wearing Steger Mukluks and chemical warmers my feet freeze. The aluminum on my platforms just sucks the heat out of my feet.

That is the main reason I jumped on a four pack of Latitude carbon sticks. Handling metallic Beast sticks is terrible for me at 0F.

I predict they go the way other treestands have gone. Lots of very minor variations on 3-4 main designs, more for the sake of product differentiation than anything else. I really think we're already there and have been for a couple of seasons.
Agree 100%. Little tweaks and some adjustments.
