I always thought Prehistoric Forest could be a money maker again. Stegosaurus hunts and coprolite!! Just think of the components you could sell for triceratop arrows! Ole Troy would be Texas size jealous

I have hunted in these bottoms my whole life and have never seen a rock other than riprap on the banks in places. I studied on this for bit and well, I don’t have a freakin clue what it is or how it got there. Anybody ever seen a meteor?? Lol.

The question isn’t what it is… but what is it covering? I bet there is something cool under it. If I was a caveman or native from thousands of years ago and wanted to hide something really cool… I would put it under that big old rock that looks like poo… If I was you, I would start digging. Might find something even better, maybe a little more shinny
I've seen basalt outcroppings that look like your picture. @boyne bowhunter said it looks like it was poured, basalt is "poured" out of a volcano.

So how do you plan to hunt this rock this season? Spot and stalk? Wait for the right wind and set up as it transitions from bedding to feed or back? We need more info!
Was there a balloon on the rock?
I dont know how many miles I have walked in those river bottoms but Dad started taking me when I was 3. Other than riprap on the banks I have seen a grand total of 1 rock, that one. It is entirely abnormal and out of place.
Coral? In Arkaknsas? yeah that would have definitely been before my time.
From about 20 yards away, that was what I thought too. Didnt look like it up close though.
Prolly start by watching a bunch of Lusk videos for the best broadhead for rock penetration. I understand he is THE expert in that area. It appeared to have a very small core area, not much evidence of moving much in daylight or any other time. Knowing that, it will prolly be a a straight stalk since I already spotted it in its bed. Just slip in there and whack the hail out of it.
Have your tried some rock scrapes? Make one and sprinkle some salt in it near by, and pee in it. Get that rock to come to you. Make him think your a rock as well.

Does your area have any historic iron smelting setups? Looks a lot like slag from a decent size bloomery furnace.
Have you tried knapping a hunk of it? All sorts of famous warriors used meteorites for weapons. The next giant buck you take down could be with a piece of space rock.
