You're absolutely right it's not required. It just makes it a lot easier. And, for $30 or whatever they cost, you might as well pop one on.

and the flip is a lot easier with larger diam rope, another advantage to cam cleat. I also switched this year for the heck of it, and am very happy about it.

The better question is why wouldn't you? Its literally the easiest option. If you want to be different that's fine and no one will stop you. All they will do is disagree with you on a post lol.
~Cam cleat = faster ATTACHMENT, but not always FASTER climb ….
~Smaller platform size on the One stick allowed me to get more distance from each move than the stick with the cam cleat (because I could move the stick higher under my rope). This led to the climb times being roughly the same, which is all that matters IMO.
PREFERENCE would be for TETHRD to do an iteration of one sticks with cam cleats installed.
Finally to answer your question of, “why wouldn’t you?”

I definitely want people to watch the video, obviously I want it to do well.
The reason I made the video and post is because I believe people have discounted viable one stick options solely because they don’t come with a cam cleat.
My goal is to show people that both sticks are an option.

So why not make the post about a smaller platform when it has nothing to do with the cam cleat? I have the LP and the weight it great. if you can use the top of a one stick as a platform then great but it doesnt do with my feet. Then if youre carrying another platform it defeats the purpose of weight saving all together. Most one stick for weight savings and packing less things.
Ring of steps is about a lb so, still saving a couple of pounds. Definitely has plenty to do with the cam cleat.

You're right, there is a lot of way to crack that egg. I'm using a Klemz platform to one stick. My attachment method is a versastrap using an old Hawk Helium button with the boat cleat method that I learn from @GCTerpfan. This cost me an extra 3 seconds compared to a cam cleats. So you're right, there are a lot of way to do it. I preferred this method over the cam clear because its more secured. Plus at my final positioning I can just keep looping the extra straps so its out of the way.
Skeletor Sticks- Similar aftermarket Cleat?
Does anyone know if there is another aftermarket cleat, like what is used on the Skeletors? Was thinking I could put them on my Hawks. I currently use a daisy chain with the original buttons. but I like the idea of not having to use the daisy chain. Thanks in advance....

Exactly! Plenty of people think that it’s not a one stick if it doesn’t have a cam cleat which leaves them blind to some of the other good systems out there.

Certainly not required, easier for a lot of people though. I don't understand these threads, what works for some/most almost ever works for everyone. You do what is best for you. Everyone needs to do some level of experimentation with their setup. If it works for you and is safe, have at it man.
With all of the scent being left by all of the times you're hugging and scraping on the tree.....you aren't going to see anything anyway.

I can appreciate the comparison between the two but I'm definitely not hunting off of the top of a One stick as my platform and what amount of time do you add for setting up a ROS? With the exception of maybe saving a few oz's and not having to break out and attach a platform using a true one-stick/platform combo I don't see any real set up time savings with either over my 4-stick climb to same hunting height in about the same amount of time. As has been said before, to each their own.
I switched from one sticking with a wingman and cam cleat last year to one sticking with a tethrd ONE stick this year and then setting my platform.
Personally I preferred the tethrd stick. The cam cleat was obviously nicer but the packability and weight was better for me with a tethrd stick and Arsenal platform and it was not difficult to use the tethrd one stick like I thought it might be. Plus I dislike the inability to adjust the angle of a wingman (or other platform sticks), it screwed me over on a hunt or 2 last year. I liked setting a platform at the exact spot and angle and not feeling like I was at the mercy of the tree.
Next year I plan to keep one sticking with the tethrd stick and then hanging a lightweight stand. So yes I agree with your premise, a cam cleat is not required (though it is nice).

But you can still put a cam cleat on a Tethrd One stick.
I haven’t done it, but have seen it. I also prefer a separate platform from stick, and use the Arsenal platform. Don’t see the advantage of holding and moving the whole platform around in front of me if it doesn’t save any weight. Hang the RZR on back of saddle and you forget it’s there til you need it. Still using a Hawk mini stick, but I’ll probably break down and buy the Tethrd One stick for next season.

I’m not drilling additional holes in that thing. I wouldn’t trust it, especially at my weight.

Maybe Tethrd will start putting them on their One Sticks and when they fail people can hate on Tethrd and the cam cleat. 
Had a ONE stick with a cam cleat for 3 seasons and it works fine. Using an EWO one stick, Tethered ONE stick with Predator or 2 ONE sticks with aiders and the Predator (all with squirrel steps). But honestly, the EWO is my primary just because it’s less stuff to fool around with.
