    States with traditional blackpowder seasons

I'm ready for flintlock, though I'm still going to start the season with my bow in saddle. Unless it snows then I'm stalking/still hunting with a powder/patch/ball as there is nothing like it.

    Bow Choice For Saddle Hunting

If you are going to have bow shop tuned and setup your bow and adjust for any change it doesn't matter too much, selection and budget. If you plan to manage, tune, and setup your bow get something you have the skills, budget, and tools for. For ease of use I always enjoy single cam bows, less...

    Best/Cheapest Cell Cams that last

I get the Moultrie ones when they go on clearance. Around 50 bucks each and then use them. I'm not looking for HD pics or anything and I'm only using them on the places that are a solid 45 minute plus drive. I'm blessed to have two state Gamelands and some other county/municipality properties...

    Hunting gear NOT camo

All my rain and wet gear is not camo. My snow gear is the LL Schmidt stuff you get at Tractor supply.

    Biggest Buck of my Life

People can say what they want. I posted as an unsuccessful hunt and those who want to continue to pursue ethicality and morals while sitting here judging based off no knowledge outside the brief objective data within this post will not change how or what I do in life. My lessons are for me to...

    Biggest Buck of my Life

I would hope we stop arguing about the distance at this point. If you are not comfortable shooting any distance do not do it. My failure was not the distance it was my decision to release the arrow and not the situation to do so. Patience failure.

If Santa brought you one hunting piece of gear. What would it be?

FAS pack, because I would never buy it myself, but I'm interested in it and already have that has an internal frame, top load, pouches, and is 60. But mine is missing some of the pockets and molle that makes it so interesting.

    Biggest Buck of my Life

Yes the platform when wet has a noise issue i realized. I have since coated it in material to prevent this. It is similar to truck bed liner.

    Biggest Buck of my Life

For everyone talking about shot distance, the distance was not the issue, my decision was the issue. I'm not going to tell anyone at what distance to harvest an animal at. People wound deer with rifles at sub 100 yards. Bad decisions have bad outcomes. Not your average bow hunter, I train hard...

    Biggest Buck of my Life

Not looking for sympathy, I have no regret in the actions I took. I will learn from my mistakes. This is just a story of a failure and the circumstances around that failure. I don't need anyone else's approval, pity, etc. I'm not here for that BS. I'm here to layout a lesson learned for someone...

    Biggest Buck of my Life

No need to argue. I'm at fault. Yes I've made the shot more than one time, its not a fluke to make it. This was a rushed shot and though I can make the shot, I was impatient and made a bad call. Its hard but you will always learn and this is just my first non lethal hit with a bow, on a trophy...

    Biggest Buck of my Life

I've shot over 10 deer with my compound at between 50-60 yards in past 5 years. I practice out to 100 with 80 being my focus as 100 is pushing it.

    2nd year saddle hunter

No it was just an investment in equipment is all. Outside of that I was mobile hunting with a bow before this.

    Quick Hunt Setup

Here is a quick hunt setup I ve been using for past two years. This is everything under 1/2 mile hike, I will drag deer out with this setup. XOP Platform XOP Mini Sticks with Metal Rope Aiders (use to use rope and webbing Aiders, replaced two weeks ago) Tethrd Phantom with two pouches...
