The hunting public’s newest podcast is all about arrow building. What are you guys shooting this year? I’ve got some Easton axis I’ve built up with homemade collars and insert weights for this year, topped off with some G5 Montec I got on the Walmart clearance rack for $7!!!!!

By my calculations I’m runnin about 21% F.O.C.

I use Walmart's Mossy Oak arrows at 500 spine topped with 100 grain muzzy's. They shoot real accurate but it is definetly the weakest link in my setup and something I will change as soon as the funds allow.

I got lots of flavors and combinations to choose from...arrows are 300 and 350 spine with varying inserts brass and stainless, some with vanes some with feathers, and 125 145 175 and 200 fixed blade broadheads, and even some flim flam flappers....550gr and beyond. I just choose what flavor I feel like shooting that day...they all tuned up and fly good

Five daughters and a son. We'll see in DEC what number 7 is.
I hope u are blessed with another boy....u guys are overrun and outnumbered

GT pierce 300s and trypans. No issues

(@ShawnE - that's the tube to get your arrows out to bigterp, been a busy few days)

Wait... you weren't talking about that kind of quiver???
Psalm 127:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

What bow are you shooting? Spine seems really soft
I am shooting a Diamond Edge with a 50 pound draw at 26 inch draw length. It is right on the edge according to all the charts I have looked at. I have become very interested in a heavier arrow but all that stuff is so darn expensive lol.

It doesn’t have to be expensive! Grab a threaded rod for $2 at your hardware store and cut to the length you need for the weight you want. With the inserts you have you can thread them in the back if they’re threaded all the way through. Put some loctite in or they’ll wiggle loose.

If it hits where you want, and lasts as long as you want, I wouldn’t worry too much. That combo is probably hanging on the wall at the deer-b.i. headquarters as one of the top 10 deer killers through history. Or at least since Walmart...

Gold Tip Kinetic Pierce 340 with Slick Trick magnums - we have to include our name and address on arrows in NH, so I use wraps from Custom Made Arrow Wraps. Also added nock collars to reduce the breakage count during practice.

28.5 inches of gold tip hunter Xt 300 spine
100 grain brass insert
Undecided on broad heads but shoots good with 100,125 and 150 field points
4 aae stealth vanes
DIY lighted nock via Avg. Jack Archery
500ish??

Been shooting GT Hunter XT 340 spine cut to 28.25 with magnus stinger buzzcuts the last few years out of a PSE Drive. I picked up a new bow this offseason and will be looking for a new arrow setup this upcoming year. Only a couple months left of deployment and I'll be able to get back to shooting.
