Do you find that it thuds or scrapes the tree as you move it up? That's the main reason I stopped using my stiff cf foot loop plate.Any reason why you guys can't keep it this simple?

It does do that. I don't think it was loud enough to negate using it.Do you find that it thuds or scrapes the tree as you move it up? That's the main reason I stopped using my stiff cf foot loop plate.
Yes, he made those. You just can't lift your legs as high in one step as a single foot. Its also harder to adjust your foot tether around the tree as you advance because you need 1 hand to push your body away from the tree as you lift both legs.
I one sticked for a few years and made my own paracord loops, which I found much easier to use than flipping the rope up. Though I do have a flimsy hand me down rope from a climbing guide friend, which is not as easy to flip. I did order the handles from CGM though and excited to try those out on the same rope with 2TC.I'm curious how many of you who are experienced in 2TC use tether handles? I've done a handful of climbs so far and am really liking the 2TC method without handles, but can see the safety concerns in case of a slip and fingers getting pinched. Would love to get some feedback on those who use these and also from those who don't as to why.
@always89y I told you long ago we should have pursued a crampon!I’m sure CGM can do that
YessirHow are you guys setting and transitioning to your platforms when doing 2tc? Do you sit in the saddle and move the foot tether up, place platform below foot tether, then stand and transition?

There's several pages deep in the thread dedicated to this topic....let's make more! How are you guys setting and transitioning to your platforms when doing 2tc? Do you sit in the saddle and move the foot tether up, place platform below foot tether, then stand and transition?

I will usually make another move or two before transitioning to the platform/steps, but yep that's the process. How are you guys setting and transitioning to your platforms when doing 2tc? What part of tether advancement is causing you issues?Well, I tried three times with the two TC system and I seem to not get it. I’m having a hard time advancing the tether.I tried the v3 quickly then the jrb cinch. I’m gonna try some more. I’m not gonna give up but thinking art might have to be my next step
Advancing the tether doesn’t seem I can advance it high enough. I bark is a little challenging it doesn’t help.I trying the J r b cinch , just that part of up with one leg and advancing. What are you doing with the connection? What part of tether advancement is causing you issues?

Try the Maverick hitch...and try stiffening your tether (several pages back). Are you having trouble getting the tether rope to stay up after you move it? You have mentioned trying different connections so it makes me wonder. You could use a tether locker of some sort to keep it up if that is the trouble.
Also, you won’t be able to make big moves but you should at least be able to go from let’s say your chest to the top of your head or better? If you are having trouble with that then your saddle connection point to your tether is too high. Give yourself a little slack so you can move the tether on the tree higher.
Sorry if I am just throwing darts here but I am not exactly sure what is going on.
Sounds like you don't have the tether height to friction hitch to bridge length dialed in quite yet. The best way to figure that out is at ground level and make one move up and back down, once you get that all set where you need it the movements will become much easier. If you still have problems with the tether snagging or not moving up easily, then adding a tether stiffener or switching to a stiffer rope may be advisable. For my top tether I have always used a girth hitch. I will probably try some other methods for that this off season. And remember small movements will make learning the moves much easierAdvancing the tether doesn’t seem I can advance it high enough. Is that biner cross loaded? lol.
It also appears to not have leg straps....Is that biner cross loaded? lol.
