How are you guys securing/wrapping Amsteel USA's or daisys on Shikar FXD's?

Right, but like, where are you wrapping it around the stick such that it doesn't interfere with stacking?

How are you guys securing/wrapping Amsteel USA's or daisys on Shikar FXD's?

I have a couple questions for anyone running Shikar FXD's and amsteel attachment methods. 1) How are you securing the amsteel to your stick at the loop end? Girth hitch around the post or use the button? 2) How does everyone wrap their amsteel attachment for pack up and transport? Pics are...

    Friction Hitch Safety Diameter

Highly recommend the Beal 5.5mm Cordelette. Get it by the foot from EWO and they even heat shrink the ends.

    Cruzr XC Sizing

33-36 inch waist here depending on the type and brand of pants. I'm in a size 2. Stagg's in the Wild on YT has a recent and interesting video on sizing the Cruzr XC, you should check that out too.

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

I definitely keep my steps at 15" or under. I'm short-legged anyway, and top that off with winter clothing... fuhgeddaboutit

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

I'm using 3/8 pex now. It looks great when you put it together, but it rapidly takes a curved set. I'll try 3.8 PVC if such a thing exists and I run across it someday. I'm actually not loving the "ladder" shaped multi-step aider. Tough to get alternating feet in it. May try and more typical...

    Camo performance fabrics

Have an idea for some saddle specific outerwear, but I'm looking to create this in performance hunting fabrics. Want quiet, and possibly with windshear linings. Does anyone have a clue where I can possibly purchase such fabrics in Predator or ASAT? Fleeces/bucksuede-type or other similar...

    Wearing a belt

I've discovered my usual belt I wear hunting, which is a heavy duty reinforced nylon belt is too rigid for saddle hunting. I usually carry IWB while hunting as well, but I've nixed that too since going saddle. Switched to a cheap-o nylon belt that came with a pair of non-hunting pants since...

My thoughts so far as a rookie year saddle hunter.

This is my first season in a saddle. I've been mostly a preset hang on guy (carry in sticks, pick preset spot depending on activity/other hunters). Tried a climber last few seasons, and frankly, I kinda hated it. It's heavy, noisy and a PITA to setup and teardown and repack. Climbing is OK...

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

So, I can't see how in the world 1/2 PEX or PVC is fitting inside this tubular webbing... It's 1" tubular. I'm going to have to try some 3/8 PEX. To the hardware store!

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

Thanks for the info folks. I suspected it was either PEX or maybe PVC. I'm surprised that the PVC would flex enough to not break. I think I'll grab a short section of each to try out.

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

I tried a piece of water tubing. It's too weak to hold and ends up going through the buckle, thus not keeping the step open and being a PITA to get undone.

DIY Ultimaider - interior "step" material

Does anyone know what the material they're using for the "step" part of the Ulitmaider? Needs to be flexible enough to not break, but rigid enough to keep the rings for the additional steps in place. SaddleHunter Youtube channel shows it, but I'm not sure what it is. Seems wrapped in foam too...

    Line advice

Do not use a carabiner in that fashion. They're not meant for that type of load. Use a quick link instead. I recommend a Kong or Petzl delta link.

    EWO pouches + rappel rope

Anyone know if 37' of Canyon Elite will fit into a standard sized EWO pouch? The "tall" pouch seems a bit bigger/longer than I care to have strapped to my waist. Thanks!

Friction knot slippage on Cruzr Restech tether

Yeah not a bad idea. Was probably going to pick up a beal birdie or a hollow block for rappel backup. Seems like having an extra sling and biner around is never a bad idea. Did my first rappel outta a tree this weekend. Had to experiment with the crappy prussic loop I had on hand to get it...

Friction knot slippage on Cruzr Restech tether

Anyone comment on how much of the Beal 5.5 cordelette i will need to do two triple fisherman's and the hitch knot?

Friction knot slippage on Cruzr Restech tether

It's a distel. I put an extra wrap in it and it's ok now. The hitch cord is just a tad short with the cover on the sewn eyes with the extra wrap, but it will do until I get some of the Beal 5.5 mm cordelette in and tie some new hitches with it.
