    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

Stitched in some drawstring barrel locks or whatever they’re called.

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

In hindsight I probably should have used thinner webbing for the leg straps to cut down on overall thickness with the overlap. They’re only there for wearing the saddle in. I need to find some better G hooks. There is one in my camelbak bag that is excellent. Going to have to search eBay...

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

That bit about adding the ziptie is some truly genius innovation. I honestly debated even adding in the lineman's belt loops for this saddle, as I just one stick with the rappel line and haven't used any trees that require any branch transition. But, since I was sewing in the molle loops anyway...

    Why does Hawk hate you?

Their customer service is definitely lacking. I get that it's the busy season, but still, it doesn't take all day to send an email response. I purchased the 20 inch sticks for super cheap and went out before reading anything about how the suction cups are nearly impossible to separate. Ended up...

    New to saddle hunting

I got into saddle hunting this year and have nothing but good things to say. There are so many saddles available on the market right now that allow for customization. If you don't like how a saddle fits or how it holds you to the tree, you have several points to adjust and find what fits...

Anyone in central MD have public lands recommendation? How have your season been?

I’ve been learning a lot myself. Honestly, a lot of Saturday’s I would just pick a few spots, drive out, and park at the one with no other vehicles in the parking area. I swear every time I randomly went in, I saw a bunch of deer. Then, my first time back, not a single deer. So I tried to mix it...

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

Yea the tubular webbing for the lineman’s belt loop is definitely having some fraying from cramming the 1” webbing through a half inch tubular webbing. I melted them a little before hand, but not too much to keep the opening as wide as possible. Then it was a pain to work through. I’ll probably...

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

Just a few updates since this initial pic. Added a 1” webbing belt with cobra style buckle (nothing fancy), leg straps, molle webbing along the edges creating attachment points for the lineman’s belt, loops for attaching the G hooks, a few more things. Need to tidy up a few more things and add...

    Why does Hawk hate you?

For anyone waiting to pull the trigger on a Hawk saddle, there are plenty of better videos or posts out there from people who have actually used their products, good or bad. I'd rather hear from someone with actual experience than someone who bought a used saddle and never sat in it, giving his...

Anyone in central MD have public lands recommendation? How have your season been?

Should be out in the spring. I'm new to saddle hunting this past season, been doing a lot of DIY and tweaking. Hoping to convince my wife that saddle is the way to go for next season, would definitely be interested in a meetup this spring. I think I saw @Bigterp was from the Essex area, probably...

Anyone in central MD have public lands recommendation? How have your season been?

Only 15 haha. I do most of my hunting in Baltimore County where the deer are fairly abundant. Not that I was anywhere close to the 15 antlerless limit this year. I was out at Loch Raven again on the 30th, plenty of Deer survived for next season.

    Saddlepalooza 2021

Just found out about this, but I don't have a lot going on this month so I'm going to try and talk the wife into another trip down to GA. It looks like an awesome event that was maybe forgotten about due to COVID, but I'd love to come down and try to keep the tradition alive.

Anyone in central MD have public lands recommendation? How have your season been?

This is my first year back in Maryland after being up and down (or down and up) the East Coast for the military. I settled into the Baltimore area and spent a lot of time mapping out the public areas on various apps then going out and putting boots to ground to check it out. I have heard great...

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

No I’ve actually never been skydiving. I got a bunch of what are essentially parachute scraps from a friend of mine who was a parachute rigger in the army. Right now, I’m using an older brother XR-7700. It’s been doing it’s job for years, but it has its issues.

    DIY Parachute Saddle and Pouches

Finally getting around to busting out the sewing machine for some DIY ideas I’ve had during the season. Was going to make a DIY saddle using some webbing and mesh, but I have a few destroyed parachutes laying around I’ve been wondering what to do with, so I put some into a saddle panel and a...
