I’ve been looking at the muddy pros as well, from what I can tell the company sold out like 10 yrs ago and the quality has gone to pot. They have bee recalled in 2012ish and still haven’t been good on quality control... I think it you can find the pre recall ones they were made a lot better and...

Would this machine be any good

As long as it has reverse it should be strong enough, grab some leds and tape em to it for some light because they make a big difference. I have a pfaff 18 and it's a tank and has adjustable dogs.

    What lineman rope with spurs?

Loce the tree squeeze, but a linemans belt will onky stop your fall if you use it correcly and keep all your weight away from the tree if you happen too slip off a step or gaff out. I went through a pole climbing class in college and watched plenty of guys gaff out of a pole and try and hug it...

    What lineman rope with spurs?

I use 12mm static rope, its bulky but definitely has the stiffness for flipping up the line.

Best advice for getting started with climbing spurs?

Practice alot. Tree squeeze for sure if you havnt really been trained on what to do if you gaff out on a tree. Burning a pole or a tree down 20ft is hard on the arms look into modding them for better leg and foot straps so they're easer to take off when at hunting height. Watch plenty of...

Has anyone found a genuine way to test DIY equipment?

Thanks for the insight, I guess it's always good to second guess your work and overbuild, my last years DIY saddle wasn't made near as well as the one I made this year and it held up really well so I guess I shouldnt be too worried.
