We've been doing it wrong all this time.

I'm holding out for the transformer model that I can ride into the woods as an electric bike and then transform it into the electric tree climber.

    New setup for next year

I shot bows at over 120 pounds of draw weight with no problems. But with today's bow performance, I prefer to keep it light and shoot around 50-60 pounds. Shoot smarter, not harder.

    String cost rant.

String/cables plus installation will hit around $175-$225 range. It has gotten expensive but so has everything else on the bow. Most factory strings are pretty good and will last several years. If a person shoots a lot, 2-3 years the string/cables can be replaced. If a person doesn't shoot much...

    New strings surprised me

The lengths of the new string/cables will usually be a little shorter than the old set. Plus, the aftermarket string/cables diameters are usually a little different. This will change the draw length a little. The peep height will usually change a little. The nocking point and D-loop length will...

Electricians - what keeps killing my camera

My experience with cheap batteries is that they leak. Like others have said, leaking batteries will cause corrosion issues that are very hard to correct. Use better batteries and your failures will stop. Besides, better batteries last longer and this will even out the price over time. These...

    Injured shoulder exercises for archery?

The main thing is first learning how to properly draw the bow using the proper muscles as to not impinge the shoulder. This may require you to drop the poundage and build up your strength. Then you can increase the poundage a couple pounds a week until you get to poundage you want. As for your...

    Both Eyes Open?

Being cross eye dominant can be a problem as it forces a person to close their dominant eye when shooting. You can try to train your eyes to override the problem. You can start with a larger peep (5/16) and practice with it for a while. You may have to open/close your dominant eye several times...

I'm about to spend a few bucks.

I would try several different brands to see which one felt the best on your shoulder. Make sure you try them in their smoothest settings as some bows have the ability to have a hard or smooth draw cycle. Jack the poundage up several pounds higher than you intend to shoot as it will be more...

A post for the Moderators… ALSO!!! Who is making bedding cuts on their land?

Logging is a big part of life here is southeast Missouri. So, the chainsaw is always echoing in the background. In my personal experience, I haven't seen any real improvements that were created by a chainsaw. The good crop bearing oaks that were cut down were better for deer habitat that the...

A post for the Moderators… ALSO!!! Who is making bedding cuts on their land?

I'm in southeast Missouri. We have thousands of acres of hardwood forest around here that gets little to no management, and the oaks seem to be doing just fine. It may be different where you are though, but not here. The loggers are harder on the hardwood forest than anything else. But where...

Screw it, I'm going back to the whisker biscuit

With today's internet access, one can easily obtain information and knowledge. This gives people a false impression that they are smarter than they actually are. But there is a big difference between Knowledge and Wisdom. Only when one applies knowledge do they gain wisdom. Knowledge leads to...

Screw it, I'm going back to the whisker biscuit

I hear ya. Been there, done that. My problem with my bow having a higher than average nocking point is that most sights wouldn't adjust low enough to accommodate. I use a "results driven" approach. I let the results dictate the actions. I tune my bow and then let the target tell me how well I...

Screw it, I'm going back to the whisker biscuit

By looking at the pic, it does appear to be pointed down but not too much. I would verify the tune by shooting a fletched shaft and a bare shaft thru paper and see the paper hole remains constant. I have a 2011 Bowtech Specialist I bought new, and I use a rest similar to a WB. It is the called...

    Rattle bag vs Antlers

I have never had a lot of luck rattling around here in southeast Missouri. Maybe it's the buck to doe ratio but I still try several times every year. I have used real horns and a rattle bag. I have about the same effect with either. On a rare occasion, I have seen a buck come in, but I have...

    Mechanical Advantage Concepts for Climbers

Me too, I always looked forward to reading Norb's bow reports every month. Those reports were actually useful and insightful.

    Mechanical Advantage Concepts for Climbers

https://archeryhistorian.com/physics-of-archery/ Physics of Bow Efficiency: Hysteresis Hysteresis is a term in physics and engineering which refers to the unrecoverable loss of energy in a system. This energy may escape a mechanism such as a bow through heat, resistance with the air, internal...

    Mechanical Advantage Concepts for Climbers

It's called Hysteresis. Hysteresis is the unrecoverable loss of energy in a system. Hysteresis is measured in compound bow testing to determine the efficiency of the bow. The higher the efficiency, the higher the speed.

    Boots you liked/disliked 2023

I have a fused right ankle with 11 screws and 2 plates and 2 screws in my left ankle. So, I have more difficulty finding boots that I can wear. I need boots/shoes with lower heels, something that gets closer to a zero drop. I like the mountain hunting boots like Kenetrek as they have a rocker...

A post for the Moderators… ALSO!!! Who is making bedding cuts on their land?

I never got too crazy with deer management. I have planted a few food plots over the years. But as far as bedding areas, I let the deer find their own spots. If there is an abundant and available food source, the deer will adapt and take care of the rest.
