    Virginia group chat/possible meet up?

I'm in Virginia Beach. I like the chat idea and maybe a meet up on some public land when we get back into the hunting season. I hunt a lot of public land all over the state. I also work for DWR as a Wildlife Area Manager so I'm pretty familiar with the WMAs on the South East part of the state.

    Predator XL or predator

I have size 15 boots and the standard size is fine for me. I've sat sun up to sun down with it just fine. Like someone else said knee protection and a back band have more impact on all day sits. Unless you're in the tree with slippers on most all boots have enough structure that the standard...

    Descending one stick method

I've always one sticked down. It really is easy and like @clint6760 said I think it's faster than going up. I keep my gear as simple as I can so I don't want to carry the extra ropes and gear for repelling.

    Tethrd pouch metal loops

I'm trying to figure out where to get some of the metal strap keepers that Tethrd uses to attach their pouches to the saddle. Anyone have a link to where I can get some? Thanks guys!

    Public Land trail cams

Not a warden. I’m a wildlife management area supervisor. I’m the one that maintains the states areas for hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

Hanging your backpack in the tree

I had this issue last year and never really found a solution. I just bought the badlands Monster pack. It’s a lumbar pack and It fits close to my back so it’s not hanging way out off my back. I can get into all of the pockets while it’s on so I’m planning to hunt with it on the whole time...

    Public Land trail cams

As others have said definitely hang them high. I work for Virginia DGIF and we had some issues with people stealing cameras off one of the WMAs that I manage so I hung a dummy camera that was easy to get to and then had another no glow camera aimed at that one that was hung high and and hard...

    Saddle hunting pack

I ended up ordering that badlands monster lumbar pack. It doesn’t weigh a thing, I can get into all of the pockets with it on my back and it doesn’t interfere at all with my shooting or twisting to take a shot.

    Tether height

I’d say as high as you stay comfortable at. My problem with moving the tether too high is the saddle starts to ride up.

    Tacticam for checking shots

Yea I was looking for something that was more streamline than wearing a camera on my head. I’ll just practice more to make sure when I take the shot I know exactly where it goes. I watched a few tacticam videos and really wasn’t impressed. Thanks guys

    Tacticam for checking shots

Anyone on here use the tacticam on their stabilizer? I am thinking about getting one so I can check my shots after the fact. I don’t want to post up my shots online but it seems like it would be nice to be able to pull up the video after the shot and see where the arrow went. That could help...

    Saddle hunting pack

I was looking at this pack. http://www.badlandspacks.com/monster-camo-fanny-pack Smaller and less gear. I do a lot of hunting where I can drag a deer out without packing the meat out. Just looking to carry the essentials.

    Saddle hunting pack

Hey guys, I’m looking to get a new day pack this year and after my first year of saddle hunting I’ve been looking at a lumbar pack. I don’t need a big pack and these seem smaller and something that I can just wear the whole time I’m hunting. What I found last year was trying to hang my pack...

    MANTIS...... WHATS UP TETHRDNATION

I’m fortunate. I’m in Virginia and late archery goes into January so I’ll definitely get to hunt out of the saddle this year. At this point we should get ours in the next couple weeks at the latest. I just bought a cheap climber to use in the mean time. I’ll sell it once I get the saddle so...
