Setting Up in a Tree in One Trip

WE steps. Bow attached to backpack and up the tree I go. Easily get up and setup in one trip. Good look and stay safe.

    Wild Edge steps moving

What type of trees are you climbing? I love mine and haven’t had any issues with them. If your new to using the steps, I can only recommend practicing with them. Once you get them cammed over there shouldn’t be any twisting or loosening. Hope you get it worked out because they’re a great tool to...

    Ring of steps

I like the wild edge steps. They provide you a way up the tree and with a platform when you get to your preferred hunting height. You can use three of them to make a "ring" around the tree and IMO would be more comfortable than the ring of steps. What ever you choose, stay safe and good luck...

Best way to pack WEI perch and steps up the tree!!!!

This is a great platform for saddle hunting and a great climbing method. There are many options out there to choose from but you can't go wrong with this.

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

Yes that's what I was referring to when I liked the setup but said it seems a bit bulky with the extra rope. Sorry I'm still getting used to the site. Will make sure to start reply so everyone knows which post I'm referring to. Thanks for the advice and cool setup. Definitely gives people a lot...

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

That is very impressive and looks easy to use one handed. My only complaint is how bulky it looks. Weight wise may be about the same as the ropeman though.

Tah-frickin-dah indeed! Simple yet so effective. Thanks for the step by step with pics.... very helpful. Thanks for all your help and input.

    Platform steps!!

@FrigidArrows -Thanks for the heads up! What rope are you using around the tree? The rope that came with my steps is large in diameter and strong but it's rough and makes it very noisy against the tree's bark.

    Platform steps!!

I just received my steps today and can't wait to try them out. Did you wrap them to keep them from banging together during the walk in to the tree or are they loud in other hunting situations?

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

@TonyGreenway that setup is slick. Wish I would have seen that about two days ago lol. Think that's the type of setup I'll have on my backup rope. Think the ropeman is going to make a huge difference and I'm glad I went ahead and ordered one but I enjoy seeing these other methods I never knew...

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

Well I just ordered the lineman 1 from Amazon for $45. Won't get here till the later part of the month so I'll be practicing with the prusik and make the change when the lineman arrives. Guess it's better to practice with prusik in case something happens. Thanks for all the input. If I need to...

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

I know if I just went ahead and bought a ropeman I would never go back to the prusik like @kelly.jayp mentioned, but this being the first year I thought to just try the knot. The adjustments was a big concern. I was thinking like you said make an adjustment at ground level then not having to...

Ropeman vs Prusik (is it necessary?)

Hi all! I am brand new to saddle hunting and can't wait for the opener here in Texas. I just found out about saddle hunting and have dove in head first. I'm starting my first season off with a modified sit drag and rock climbing harness. I've spent a chunk of money and time on getting ropes and...

    Spliced Amsteel

I made a 28" bridge and made my locked in bury 8-10" the other end I pulled through all the way to the locked in bury and pulled it out past the locked bury about 3/4" then cut it with about 3/4" sticking out. I milked the rope back over it the best I could and stitch locked it in with the...

    Spliced Amsteel

It was the only thing I had lying around the house that was the right shape and easy to take apart (pliers to the eraser end and I pulled all the guts out of the pencil easily) lol

    The learning curve...

I'm brand new to saddles also. I thought my climber was the greatest thing ever and have used it for the last 6 seasons. Even though it's made specifically for bow hunting and it's on the lighter side it's just to bulky and awkward carrying with my pack and bow for long treks on public land. I...

    Sewing?

I haven't sewn much since home ec either (18 years ago). Thankfully my mother in law came over yesterday and was able to give me a refresher course using the sewing machine. I am using standard thread and using the ol philosophy about tying knots "when in doubt tie a lot" so I'm just sewing...

    Spliced Amsteel

I found 1/4" Amsteel blue on amazon at a good price. I would highly recommend splicing the rope to save on bulk and strength. It's very easy to do yourself. I watched @g2outdoors splicing video and was able to splice my rope using a mechanical pencil for the fid and used a length of electrical...
