How long does it take you to set up?

From arriving at the base of the tree to having gun in hand ready to shoot it takes me about 20 minutes in the daylight. I bet I add another 5 in the dark. That’s three sticks, one CAYG aider, and platform. I carry the the sticks strapped to a pack and my platform inside.

    Saddle hunting with gun

I hunt on private land so use a ez hanger. I was thinking of getting a hys and using a hook if I were to change up.

    Ring of steps?

I got them from bullman outdoors. They are the silent approach steps attached to a short ratchet strap. I believe the price was around 65.

    What rifle is everyone using?

That’s why I like the threaded option for a can! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What rifle is everyone using?

Last year I used a 300 blackout in an AR platform in a pistol format. I hunt almost exclusively thick woods and swamps so a shorter weapon is preferred for me. I also think a short rifle is ideal in a saddle. I’m seriously considering purchasing a Ruger American ranch rifle as my next deer...

    Frequency of marathon saddle sessions

Between family and work I don’t take many opportunities to hunt. Most hunts are spur of the moment. Occasionally I might sit for 5 or so. The reason I got a saddle was to maximize the time that I do have.

    ROS vs Platform

I prefer a ROS. I have a predator but still prefer ROS

    Ring of steps?

I started with ROS last year. This season I bought a predator platform. In the yard practicing at this point I prefer the ROS. I prefer the smaller package of the ROS. I will keep playing with the predator to see if I change my mind though.

Am I too late to saddle up?

I ordered mine last year once the season already started. I received the saddle three weeks before the season went out. It was the best three weeks of hunting I had ever had. It’ll be worth it to go ahead and order it and if you get to use it 2 months or two weeks you will be happy.

    State specific sub-forum?

@Kurt i agree with that as well. I was thinking mostly to assist with meetups and trying to link up with other locals and see who is in your area. Something like “State events/meetups/issues”. If done that way it’d probably require a moderator for each state that is willing to delete threads...

    State specific sub-forum?

I’m unsure of the logistics or if it would be possible, but I was thinking it might would be nice to have state specific sub forums on here. I’m even unsure if sub forum is the correct nomenclature haha! I do see a fair amount of posts that say something like hey I’m from “North Carolina(...

Climbing Sticks, which would you select?

I have lone wolf and helium’s and I prefer the double step helium’s. Nothing at all wrong with quality of the lone wolf but the comfort of a double step can’t be overstated imo. My main recommendation: get one with double steps!

Does anyone NOT like the Predator?

Last year I used the ROS. I ordered the predator this year and just using it in my yard I think I prefer the ROS. So what I don’t like about the platform is weight and bulk vs ROS. I also think it’s a bit to long. I will keep trying it out but I may end up selling it.

    HangTime State Shirts

@Jefferson10940 i don’t bow hunt so is there a possibility of a graphic in the future with the hunter holding an SBR with a can, hehe?! Or any rifle?

The fabric sleeve thingy on Aerohunter's Lineman Belt

I’ve left mine in place and daisy chain it like it’s part of the rope. The more you use it the softer and more broke in it becomes. I seriously doubt it makes enough noise to matter.
