I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing new platforms...

Not sure at this point. Probably in the $100-$150 range.

I have a Miller Syncrowave 351, which is a TIG setup.

About 6" tall, bracket is about 5" wide I think

Poll - How many people back up their connection to their tether?

I also run my linsemans belt around the tree as a tether as well so I'm not just relying on one connection to the tree.

These are all laser cut, from 3/8" and 1/2" aluminum.

Thanks. You would definitely have a hard time standing up on the hybrid claw one, but I can stand up on the pivot one.

I wonder what it would feel like if it was more squared off. My thought with the curved shape was as you pivot around the tree, you can always find a spot with your foot that is square with your body position. I did make another one that I posted that has more straight lines.

I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing new platforms...

Ok guys, I've already posted a couple of different platforms I've made. Here are my two most recent attempts. One is a pivot style, but wider and with more footspace close to the tree. It's pretty solid on the tree, and I find I can easily push off around the tree for different shots. The best...

A new style of platform (I think?)

Well that's a good question. Probably around $150, but this is obviously in the DIY stages and not weight rated or tested in any way yet, and I have no idea what sorts of testing or certification is needed to sell something like this.

    My platform prototype

That's right, it's a strap and buckle from Dano's website girth hitched to the post.

    My platform prototype

I finally got around to drilling out and countersinking some more holes in this platform. Got the weight down to 3 lbs 6oz. Hit with some self etching primer, then some rubber coating spray, then a camo paint job. I think she'll hunt.

    My platform prototype

Sorry, I missed this post, but I would do maybe 1/4" steel. I'm posting from my phone but if you DM me an email address I'll send you the dxf.

A new style of platform (I think?)

Tried camming it, couldn't get that to work. I couldn't get it tight enough with the Dano strap either. I got in a tree with it and the Mantis, and man does it work pretty well. If you position the strap towards the top of the posts it does not pull away from the tree at all, no matter what...

I do, I will try it with that this evening.

A new style of platform (I think?)

Thanks y'all! Yes it is CNC lasered. Drawn up in AutoCAD. Kyler, your points were exactly what my thought processes were in making this design. I just finished putting it together, so I haven't gotten on it in my saddle yet. I will try to do that tonight and give it a real test.

A new style of platform (I think?)

Here is my newest platform prototype. I'm trying for a sort of hybrid between a ring of steps and a Predator style. This one pivots in the center, forming a sort of "claw" that grabs the tree. It folds up pretty small and compact, measuring about 10" x 9" x 4". Unfolded it's about 18" long and...

    New climbing stick design

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Here's the stick on a tree. Keep in mind I wear size 14 shoes. Last pic is all four strapped to my pack. With button and amsteel Daisy chain each 24" stick weighs 2lbs 5oz. Not the lightest stick on the world, but not too bad. If you made it a 20" stick and...

    New climbing stick design

This is a good idea. I was also thinking of cutting them from 1/2" thick material and putting a hole through to bolt them.
