A new style of platform (I think?)

Here is my newest platform prototype. I'm trying for a sort of hybrid between a ring of steps and a Predator style. This one pivots in the center, forming a sort of "claw" that grabs the tree. It folds up pretty small and compact, measuring about 10" x 9" x 4". Unfolded it's about 18" long and 5" deep. I'll get a weight on it tonight, but I'm guessing about 2.5 lbs. One big disadvantage is it needs a ratchet straps to get it tight enough to the tree, I think.

This is very interesting. Did you make this with a CNC? How do you like it?

This is fantastic. I've been toying with a similar setup that attached to the top of a stick. This looks perfect. In my opinion, most of the platforms available waste the space right next to the tree - which is where you want your feet to be. Having them just offset from center allows to you to be more comfortable. Knocked it out of the ballpark here!

Thanks y'all! Yes it is CNC lasered. Drawn up in AutoCAD. Kyler, your points were exactly what my thought processes were in making this design. I just finished putting it together, so I haven't gotten on it in my saddle yet. I will try to do that tonight and give it a real test.

This is genius and well executed! I love it and I"m a ROS guy.

This, with one squirrel step on the back of the tree, would be pretty awesome. Do you have an OCB to try and see if that will cinch it down?

Super cool idea and execution

I was just thinking about the conversations we had about platforms and the "vestigial tail" aspect of making them deep instead of wide!

Hats off for the design, @Bradymakesstuff. I'm impressed.

I like it. Do you think it could be cammed over like a WE step if you attached a strap to the top on the outermost part of the platform?

The creativity of the guys on this site never fails to amaze me. Good job with this and it sounds like you are not done yet.

Thanks man. Aren't you in Alabama? I'm in Birmingham, Id love to get you to check thia thing out in person and give me some feedback.
Yep. I'm in Mobile. We should meet up sometime. You on Facebook? I started an Alabama Saddle Hunters page a while back to help folks network. Might wanna check it out. I'm sure there're several folks on there that would want to look at it.
