One shot, everyone knows the rules!

The Glendale buck did the same thing to me. I'll never buy another one. I am going to buy a transformer deer from Morrell next time.

Anybody cut their U.P. Platform yet?

I wouldn't cut it, but I don't put the stick under the rope to hold it anyway. I advance the stick as high as I can without passing the sinched part around the tree.

    TX5 review

HPR is really good. I prefer the stretch vs. the pleat, but that is a personal preference. Matt is a really good guy. I have 2 TX5's. You can't go wrong with any of his saddles.

    Anyone tried this?

I've seen something similar, but is was single steps to climb a tree. They took 4x4x4 blocks with a hole through the middle and used rope to tie them to the tree to climb. This was on public and last time is was there they were still on the tree. Minus a couple where the rope had rotted...

    Up issues

I use TRC rope and I tied a scaffold knot around the stick. I made my stick 18 inches with 1/8" wall aluminum tubing. It does not budge.

Black Diamond ATC sport for Rappel (please close)

That looks to be a very good belay device for oplux. I have the Grivel master mono and did not realize Black Diamond made a single belay device.

    One stick method using Prusik

I use a scaffold knot. Same as poachers knot. Just three wraps instead of two.

    ATC options

The mono works well. The black diamond figure 8 will leave your rope twisted. I just don't like climbing and hunting off the madrock safeguard.

    ATC options

The grivel master mono is what I have and was going to recommend. I climb just like TooheyBirdie mentioned above.

    One stick method using Prusik

Sometimes it seems you have to break the TRC in to get it to bind. I'm still using the TRC, but have the beal Kelvin also.
