Who gets Buck fever? How often? How intense?

Awesome. Perhaps consider aiming center mass line, or even favoring aiming between that center mass line of the deer and the third mass line low to the bottom of the belly. That way, you hit the heart and/or bottom of the lungs, and if the deer drops, from the reaction to the arrow and/or shot...

Who gets Buck fever? How often? How intense?

Just wondering what your buck fever experience is! Mine is definitely as intense as ever. Even with Does most of the time! Might actually be more intense now with a bow versus a rifle. Get it both times, but perhaps the closeness and intensity with the bow makes it more extreme.

What is current "state of the art" rappel gear for SH?

I've used JRBs system 90% of the time the last couple seasons. I went back to the madrock safeguard recently, only to prefer the all mighty Munter hitch and JRB Ascender/Longhorn Agile, just feel safer AND so much smoother.

Camera arm for saddle hunting suggestions OR reviews

Thanks I’m leaning towards that one.

Camera arm for saddle hunting suggestions OR reviews

I am considering getting another camera arm for the Treestand while saddle hunting, and I know there are several options that are extremely small, almost micro in size. Just trying to see if anybody has used any of these OR other newer small camera arm models out there. Has to be really small...

    Buck fever got me today

Well welcome to bow/deer hunting! Awesome isn't it! I still get buck fever as bad as 50 years ago! LOL...I actually perfer when I don't have time to think. I see the deer, grab my bow, aim, and shoot. Now, if I have to wait for the deer to get into my lane OR broadside, I hope it is a longer...

    Making the Leap

Well welcome and good luck. Be safe. Stay attached to the tree with a tether/lifeline/repel rope from the time you leave the ground AND until you return to the ground. Practice at home on a tree in your yard at ground level, and then move up the tree when you feel ready.

    Hunting close property lines

If you are on your side of the property, why not. Just don't shoot onto the neighbors. Now, what do you do if the deer dies on their side? That could happen no matter where you shoot a deer on yourside though, so I'm back to staying on your side AND not shooting onto their side. I would not let...

23 Pounds - Just Platform, Saddle and Sticks

I have not been overweight in decades, 60 years on the planet! I think most of the guys saddle hunting are in pretty good shape.

23 Pounds - Just Platform, Saddle and Sticks

I started shedding weight 11-12 years ago. 5, 10, or more pounds a year. I was just carrying the entire mancave stash into the woods with me! I'm down to nearly nothing. Saddle, SRT halfline system, extra tether, couple super thin pull up lines, something to hang my bow with, ring of steps OR...

I can't remember, but I see it on sale each season. It isn't bad, under $199 shipped.

How high is high enough with a saddle?

I prefer higher IF the tree and situation allows. I've used a climber 10 of the last 15 years, 1 sticked the last 3 seasons, and gone to SRT Half Line system this year, all of which allow you to go as high as you want for the most part. My SRT halfline is limited to about 40, and I've found...

    Deer cart recommendations

The hawk crawler is amazing. I've owned just about every other cart on the market over the last 20 years AND this thing blows the rest away by a LONNNNGGG shot! Light years better then dragging with a sled too, unless you are in deep snow and using snow shoes also. The dual suspension allows...

    Let’s see some hunting rigs

MINI vAn POWeR! My favorite vehicle of all time. Litterly! My kid used to joke, we needed to get a lift kit and 4 wheel drive installed on our mini vans!

Anyone using the HALFLINE system by NY Saddle Hunter or JRB SRT on the fly this SeAsoN?

Yep, my thoughts exactly. The main reason I've changed, it is the safest feeling way to tree hunt. At my age and health status, I was having a hard time justifying hunting out of trees anymore. Not to mention having a hard time getting up the tree, regardless of safety concerns. Bottom line...

Anyone using the HALFLINE system by NY Saddle Hunter or JRB SRT on the fly this SeAsoN?

That’s how I do it once I am at height, I have my tether hooked to my second bridge, and my repel line attached to my main bridge, with my remaining 30 feet of repel lien stashed in my right saddle bag. I guess you could do it with two rebel lines also going up the tree. I haven’t seen anybody...

Anyone using the HALFLINE system by NY Saddle Hunter or JRB SRT on the fly this SeAsoN?

The fact that you have your self connected to the line on your bridge, and above on the ascender, seems like redundancy right there. I was originally running it with a long horn agile hitch connected to the bridge, and then the CT roll above it, again redundancy. if you have a second bridge...

Anyone using the HALFLINE system by NY Saddle Hunter or JRB SRT on the fly this SeAsoN?

I’m only 5’11”, so I would think so. I found some nylon flat webbing in my garage, and I used it to give me an idea how much I needed. The stuff I used was from a strap that I used to fasten my kayaks to my roof of my minivan! Anyways, you could always order a longer Version of the elevaider SS...
