Sore hips new tip saddle hunting any advice

Should. Also adjust where the bridge sets on the loops. Lower will relieve some of the pinch up top, and set more on the thighs. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

    Line advice

I just picked up 35ft of 8mm Teufelberger Resc Tech rope for $75ish delivered. Check out doublesteps.com aka Easter Woods Outdoors. You can find just about everything you need from there. I'll be using a scaffold knot on an oval quicklink to tie onto the tree. Rappelling with a black diamond...

Friction knot slippage on Cruzr Restech tether

Any way to add another wrap on the knot? Additional wrap will give it more grip.

    Platform question

I know exactly what your talking about.. I used a platform when I first started playing woth saddle hunting. If I wasn't standing straight up or sitting straight,, I would feel like I was going to unintentionally swing around the tree. Last year, I used 3 primal steps in a ring instead of a...

    Ropeman 2

I see a bunch of guys running a Kong ascender on 8mm ropes instead of a ropeman. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

Favorite stick Mods- What are you starting with?

API Huntin stick are cheap, easy to mod and solid. I shortened mine and added a sewn on aider on each bottom step. Considered doing the stacking steps to make a cheap DIY version of a top step/platform. I have 3 steps after shortening sticks. Got mine for $100 delivered. Sent from my SM-G981U...

    Platforms?

I'll definitely be trying to push the limits of it at ground level before I get 20ft up on it. $60 is a low risk price if I don't like it. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

    Platforms?

Night not be one of the highest ranking platforms, but it's definitely cheap enough to give it a shot. I got one coming in Monday. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

Sticks and Aiders - Use Both or Just sticks?

A double=2 step aider on the first stick I set on the tree. I usually hike less 500yds. The public areas I hutlnt often aren't large pieces. I can get 15ft or so. I don't have a platform right now, so I stand on top step. If its going to be a longer hunt, ill use my primal steps and make a...

Sticks and Aiders - Use Both or Just sticks?

I use 3-API sticks, 22"-ish step/step with a single aider on each. It works pretty good. A double in bottom would be the only thing I'd change going forward.

    tree selection and setup

I feel tree selection plays a major part in saddle hunting, which I feel I suck at. I don't realize I picked the wrong tree until I'm at a good hunting height. By then I'm already committed by a time crunch. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

Would this work for an Entry/Budget saddle?

I would have given that harness some serious consideration. It looks like a saddle already--webbing bridge, two panels to spread out your weight without really digging in, linesman rings and I can only assume it's a rated/certified/tested harness. If you do decide to buy one, start off at ground...

Would this work for an Entry/Budget saddle?

I should've looked at all the pictures of that harness. Honestly, I wish I would've seen that harness when I got curious about saddle hunting. Very likey that I would've bought one myself. Most harnesses are between 1" and 2" webbing that would constrict around the thighs. Sitting still and...

Would this work for an Entry/Budget saddle?

If you keep it basic, you can test the saddle waters cheaply. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

    Saddle or Harness?

I understand eliminating possible metal contact, but some take it to the extreme. Setting my climbing sticks or primal steps make more noise than the carabiner-tender would ever make. If it was a resonating sound like a bell or gong, sure I would take extreme measures. Sent from my SM-G981U...

    Saddle or Harness?

    Saddle or Harness?

I have something similar on my linemans rope but not on my tether. Not sure how it could work on my tether with zero slack to pull up. I keep the second prusik spretty snug in the rock harness. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
