New to saddle hunting in 3rd sit in 3 days and my hips are fairly sore.
is it my saddle is too high on my waist
Tether is about my nose height on tree
I am in a phantom saddle set up
Thanks for any help
Enjoying the flexibility of a saddle over a climber for sure just not sure how many days my hips can handle a saddle

Should. Also adjust where the bridge sets on the loops. Lower will relieve some of the pinch up top, and set more on the thighs.

If I don’t have my saddle/bridge/tether set just right I tend to get a good bit of hip pinch, including numbness on my left side. If I have it adjusted right, then it’s quite comfortable.

My comfortable setup up goes like this:
- tether set so that the “v” is just below my chin.
- Bridge is set about as long as I can with my safeguard positioned about 1 hands width from that same “V” of the tether where it’s girth hitched around the tree.
- the top of my saddle is positioned just below my waist belt
- i will move the bottom of my saddle a bit depending on whether I’m standing or leaning

That seems to be the sweet spot for me. For reference I’m 6’, 250lbs, with a 44“ waist. I use the Mini-shikar with the angled scout platform.

Latitude outdoors has a series of short videos talking about the function of each part of our connection to the tree: bridge, tether, and bridge loop attachment. Well worth watching.

Something else I learned early on. Make sure your entire set up is plumb (straight line down) down the tree. Tether "v"If, bridge hook up, saddle position on either hip, platform/stick..... If the "v" of your tether is off to the right or left of your platform by a couple inches you will fight to straighten yourself the whole time. Causing you to use core muscles you don't usually use. Leading to discomforts.

You can make adjustments to try and make the pinch go away but from what I’ve found over the years is that if the saddle causes you pain it’s time to try another. I started with the Tactisaddle, sitdrag, Mantis, H2 and Recon. Now I’m using the Cruzr XC which causes no pain. All are made differently and unfortunately you have to find the one that feels right. Also the more surface area that a saddle supports the better.

Are you a sitter or a leaner? I'm 90 percent leaner and I have a low tether (nipple high) and my bridge is around 18". This puts more weight on your legs and less on your butt.

Big thing is also just to relax. It’s like clenching the steering wheel and you don’t even know your doing it. Your in a new position using muscles at angles
