How does the 1/8" Amsteel Full Bury work with the Schaefer Cam Cleat? It seems that it may be just out of spec.

You might be right. It would be close. A medium cam cleat is rated for 1/4”. That’s why I use a 3/16 full bury and it gets easily over the minimum threshold. Cost difference is minimal for the piece of mind.

The Harken 150 cam cleat is within specs for the 1/8th full bury amsteel. I bought the 1/8th full bury to try it on the Sh1kar with the sail cleat but decided not to take the risk with the info that just came out. The Harken with 1/8th amsteel seems to hold fine but looks wide on the Sh1kar..

Mine works fine with the micro cleat on my shikar.

The Harken 150 looks a bit wider, but seems to be fine also. I only went with the Harken because it was rated down to 1/8th rope and I had 2 1/8th full bury amsteels. Time will tell.

Thank you for posting this video! Wow, first time I've seen that one!
I like his stuff, great job on not bashing anyone & admitted using out of spec. Plus a nice safety refresher for one sticking, being tethered in & minimal slack is key.

I liked the concept of using a drone to follow him as he went up the tree. That's a neat idea. I had thought something like that would be very helpful, but that's the first use of it I've seen in the wild.

I received a warning message about the plastic cleat with a picture of the failure. Thats all I needed. Thanks Big T for posting the vid.

I really cant give you a good answer. I just tried it a couple times without issue. I hope I like it ,I bought a second Harken for another stick.

That's exactly where I am. Just received my 1/8" full bury then the news of the sail cleat failure broke. I'm torn between trying the aluminum sail cleat that is within spec or going with the Harken 150.

Same here. As far as the cam cleats go, I'm looking at the Harken 150 as well. I would rather fall into the middle of the spec range than the bottom which is where the Schaefer would have put me.

Keep us posted, I havent had time to give it a good workout yet, but it seems really solid and smooth operating.
