1 to 1.5 inch diameter screw top plastic tube for pencils?

I'm wanting a rigid case with a lid that won't pop off for carrying 3 to 5 pencils in the field (without breaking them).

I looked on amazon and most pencil cases are either too big, not rigid, or the top can pop off too easily in a pack.

Any ideas are welcome!

Could make one pretty easy out of PVC pipe but it wouldn't be pretty. Small piece of pipe, glue a cap on one end, just slip a cap on the top side or glue a thread male end and get a threaded cap if you really need it secure.

something like this would work....a tad short for a 7.5 inch long pencil...i'll look some more in that area, or just sharpen 5/8" off each pencil to start out

Exactly what I was thinking. If you know a plumber or an irrigation guy, they should have plenty of scrap pieces to make that up.

Not as sturdy as PVC, but maybe some heavy-duty vinyl tube would provide adequate protection. Pop a cork or stopper in either end. Local hardware or appliance shop should have you set.

Or, cut the threaded mouth off of a couple of Gatorade bottles and epoxy them on to the ends of suitable-sized tubing. Instead of friction-fit stoppers.

The world wants to know:

a) what are you doing that you need multiple pencils while day hunting (assuming this isn’t a deserted island year long “Alone” style exercise….)

2) what the heck are you doing that breaks pencils so easily? Rolling down hills? New quick descent method from your tree??? Or did you just recently watch “while you were sleeping” and your hunting buddy is the one carrying the pencils in his pocket?
