Ok…to start off with, I’m short. Like 5’8.5” on a good day. I’ve been using some Novix mini doubles with cable aiders on them and I like them just fine. I’ve been thinking about running a double strap aider on two of them and loosing my 4th stick though. I’m pretty sure with my height, a two step aider is as far as I can stretch it. What suggestions might ye have for me?

I don't think I could convince anyone that I make 5'8" but I use a 3 step 15inch spaced aider. Sometimes I don't use the 3rd step but I usually can and do. I think just stick to a little shorter step distance for us normal size humans

Go with a 3 step aider. The distance you space them is a function of your body size anyway, and a 3 step 15" aider would be perfect for you.
You'll be able to have the top of your first stick around 7.5' high from the ground. If using multiple sticks you'll easily get 6.5-7' for each additional stick without stretching.
You can be 14-16' to your platform very easily with two sticks and two 3 step aiders.

Are you only using one on your bottom stick? Or are you running a second one?

This coming season I plan to run a 3 step movable aider from Back Woods Mobile Gear. I’m going to run either 2 or 3 Novix Mini Double steps as well. I’m going to just roll the steps up and put them back in my pack when I get to hunting height. I will rappel down and stop to get each stick on the way down. I feel this is safer than trying to find the aider steps coming back down. I’m unsure of how high I can get yet as I’m around 5’7 so I feel like this will be the best overall method. I one sticked last year, I enjoyed it but it was hard for me to one stick and not mess up my Bino-Harness. I may practice a little more with the one stick and try to figure a way without scuffing or scratching my bino harness to much.

I'm thinking I'm going to do something similar to K.D.P. , but with mini shikars and 3 aiders. One on each stick and one from platform ( x- wing usually but that part might change). I'm ok with aiders coming down but I agree it can be hard and rappelling is easier and safer. I'm figuring 6' per move so I'd be about 18' to my feet

I use a 5 step etrier like G2outdoors posted in one of his videos. I hang it off the top of the stick and only step on the bottom 3 steps. It moves up the tree with me and I stow it when I am at the top. That way there is nothing blowing in the wind to attract the eye of a deer. Often I don't even need it on the climb down since it is pretty easy to stretch between sticks when descending. I can get my feet up to 20 feet high with 3 sticks this way.

You really can't go wrong with an UltimAider. It's modular and adjustable, you can add or remove rungs as you need. As the season progresses and I add layers I find myself shortening my step interval to accommodate the added required insulation. It's not Amsteel, and it's not the lightest or more compact thing out there, but it works great.

Just another option for those who don't like aiders.
When I want a few more steps, I can hang 3 to 5 steps to start my climb. I don't mind hanging a few steps when my feet are still on the ground.
The Apex steps are 4.7 oz each with amsteel attachment.
