2 sticks (EWO) vs. 3 and platform

Looking for some feedback. Thinking about doing 2 EWO sticks (1 - 1 stick w/ UP platform and 1 featherweight stick with cam cleat both with 3 step ultimaiders) or 3 lwcg double step 14" sticks with 1 step aiders and fix platform. Both are similar price and I'm thinking with the 3 step ultimaiders I can get to a hunting height (15') that I usually go to. I may eventually truly 1 stick and rappel, but at this point not ready to take that leap. Anyone go the 2 stick method using a 1 stick w/ platform as the top stick?

Sounds like a lot of metal in a hunting situation. Use a 3 step aider on bottom to get as high as possible. Really, just bring 3 sticks and a hang on at that point

Not sure how it's any more metal than the 4 beast sticks and lwcg .5 I used last year.

Can you give us a reason you want to switch so we know what opinion to give? Is it weight reduction or less moving parts?

I mean, if you wanted, you can just add 3 steps aiders to 2 your Beast sticks. Buy the Monarch/BOB from OOAL and put that on the top of your Beast stick and that would be similar to the EWO setup you wanted. JMHO.

BUT as a gear junkie with an allowance. I would try to live vicariously through you and tell you to do what I suggested AND buy the LWCG sticks! ;)

I would say it's a combination of both. I was carrying 4 sticks and a stand in and the idea of 2 sticks and a platform being attached to one of them or even 3 14" sticks seems like it would be a better fit for my hunting style. I already sold the beast sticks - being a gear junkie like you even though I enjoyed the Beast sticks last year I was looking to try something different this year.

I like the idea of a platform on a stick like the UP, but I also know guys who said they prefer a separate platform from their climbing system. I may go the LWCG route for now or go with 2 sticks + aiders and a separate platform.

It’s a realistic option to get around 14- 15” feet high.
I have 2 EWO sticks w aiders and have climbed scouting / moving cameras a few times .
Reasoning is I typically like around 15’ with my recurve + rappel gear in a latitude pouch is about the same weight as a double step EWO stick w aider.
UP on top is pretty quick set up and break down for me.
Disclosure-
*I’m trying to tighten up a lighter weight climbing system to ROS for deeper hunts
. At present - I’ll likely 1 stick when heading out for over 1 mile.

How comfortable are you with aiders? This is what I'm going to be using with my DIY LWCG .5. With 2 of these I can get to 15 ft not including the stand. But I rappel down no matter what style I'm getting up the tree.

I don't like climbing with or packing 4 sticks, too fiddly. I've been using 3 sticks with aiders, I can pack them better and manage my climb better with 3. The thing I do different with three sticks is if I'm not high enough I just one stick a move or two with the last stick then I repel down. This way I can climb Hemlocks (my favorite) or trees with many branches much easier, it beats fighting the one stick around all those branches on each move. I hang that last stick to my saddle and many times you can climb up a few branches then hang the stick where it's needed, if I hang two sticks from my saddle (4 sticking) they get hung up too much and clang together.
