Don't know if I can make the spring thing. But really gonna prioritize the fall hunt, depending on which hunts I do or don't get in Arizona. My very good friend out there is sharing the expense for my very expensive non resident tags depending on what I draw, if any. He's new to bow hunting but not gun hunting and I've convinced him to let me stay with him and his family while I'm there and he's agreed to have properties to hunt that he's scouted and familiar with. I'm hoping for elk tag, but applying for several. We'll see in March, I believe that's when they do the lottery. Not sure how that works exactly, never hunted farther than the Carolinas.
Next year should be great.
Probably Arizona hunt
Probably saddlepalooza
This is gonna be pricey.
Why couldn't I have been born rich instead of beautiful?

I'm planning on trying to get some scouting in. Anyone who wants to is welcome but I wasn't expecting anyone. I just meant I wanted to get the spot narrowed down in time so I can get some scouting in.

That sounds like a pretty nice deal you got in Arizona. I went to NY for 2 long weekends last year but besides that I haven't hunted outside NJ so I'm looking forward to this hunt too.

Hope you can come!

Since Saddlepalooza will be a long weekend, I'm optimistic I can do both.

FYI I plan on going for the entire week. I know not everyone will be able to do that so I would love to see whoever can make it for whenever they are able to get away! :D

I should step back a little bit. I plan on doing a whole week as of now. I am still getting used to my new life with a little one so that may have to change, but I'm going to try to make a week happen so we'll see. As I was looking at the dates I realized that if it ends up being the week including the 13th I would definitely not be able to do the full week cause that will be my little one's first birthday!

I've hunted Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, Montana, Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York and Saskatchewan.

Upstate NY is easily the most difficult hunting I've experienced. Florida would be tougher if it weren't for baiting being legal.

John Eberhart is right when he says guys that can get it done in hchp areas can really make it happen in the areas with less pressure or where there are simply more mature bucks.

You guys should definitely hunt out of state whenever you get the chance. You'll love it!

Red, I will be up for joining you for scouting in the Spring at any of the locations.

I thought I had posted a Pro's and Con's of PA and OH somewhere... Maybe I was typing it and got distracted before posting.

The best part of the PA hunt would be that we can all stay together, large porch for telling stories, big kitchen to share cooking duties, kegerator, outside fire pit and it's all free.
Ohio will have easier doe tags than PA, but we could probably get them. Ohio bigger bucks but more pressure.

Are you guys thinking of scouting before the leaves show up?

Yes. I know this would be hard for most people to do as it might be a far trip, but I am planning on giving it a go.

Keep me up to date add I am going too try and come in the spring as well

Sure thing. Gonna let the voting go another couple weeks and then we can start planning. I'll probably try to do a long weekend in the spring.

Yea it does!

Yeah, PA would be a better social experience. But OH will have the nicer deer.

Just remember many of those big bucks you see are taken in Ag areas and private property.

My favorite part of any hunt is always the campfire. Nothing better than a bunch of stories you haven't heard and a few beers with new friends. You wouldn't believe the stories our PH told in South Africa.

If Mautsys camp wins, anyone who wants to scout please contact me if you want a Tagalong. You have until the 3rd week of April before it greens up. I feel I have to scout since it is literally 45 minutes from where I presently hunt.

I'm going to spend the rest of the year rubbing my wife's feet and doing as many honey-do chores as I can to build the good will with the wife. Otherwise I'll be hard pressed to get her to watch my lab while I'm gone.

Does anyone have the borders for the property on kmz or gpx file so I can cyber stalk the property from Google Earth over the spring and summer leading up to the date?

If we stay at the camp we will be hunting public land surrounding the camp, its just a place to stay. When we get it squared away we will post up maps and stuff

Google Rauchtown PA. Zoom out and you'll see all the land covered in "green" are state land. There's a lot to the northwest and some slivers to the east along the mountain top. I have a KMZ from GPS depot that's pretty good with the public land borders in PA. Hope this helps.
