or biggest screwups award..... we could give that person a pair of SH camo CROCS. lol
That would be sweet. Mine are starting to wear out...

I'm recalling a particular instance last year where I ended up attempting to cleanse my bowels while wearing chest waders and hunting in hip-deep muck. Ever been in such a pinch that you threw an original production year Wingmaster in the water to drop trow?

I think wiser heads are prevailing here. I think a fee to pay that allows you to sell items on the forum would be a better way. But regardless, the worst screw up of the year will get a dozen hand tied flies.

I wonder when a saddle company will come out with TK and Mikes best product? It’s number one when you have to number 2

We did a saddle hunter contest shirt the last 2 years and almost noone bought them. The idea was to sell a shirt to every participant and the proceeds would go towards a prize for the winning team.

That way its not really a "pay to play" sitch since everyone would get the shirt.

If you guys like that idea. I can make that happen in the SH store.

Personally I think adding money to the equation is a great way to screw up a friendly free-to-all competition. I'd vote leave the money out of it.

If anything we should be sending @redsquirrel a few bucks to cover hosting costs and for dealing with everyone.
I concur. The potential proceeds for winning aren't worth the hassle it can create. That said I'm all for an entry fee to help support the site, even if its a voluntary suggested donation.

I thought we bought a shirt last year from SH called king of the saddle and the proceeds were supposed to go to a prize for the winners? I could be way off but I seem to remember, I wore the shirt today ... ??

I am typically the guy that wants to add a few dollars to contests to make it more exciting but, after following this contest last year I agree it is better without money involved. I would probably buy a shirt though.

Also, @redsquirrel you should set up a donation link to allow members to help you bear a little of the cost of running the site. It can be somewhere inconspicuous if you didn't want it to seem pushy. I think many members would donate a few dollars.

My thoughts would be buy a shirt as entry fee. Maybe an extra dollar or two that would go to a sweatshirt like someone else mentioned. No matter what at the end of the day we will all be hunting and enjoying. Making it a money deal may take some of the enjoyment out of it

Thanks @DaveT1963 for chiming in. I took this idea off off what Dave had mentioned in the past. I don’t think hunting for a cash prize was ever the intent. This is just a way for some to add to a fund for a shirt/hoodie/whatever with the remaining balance donated to redsquirrel for everything he does to keep this place add free and running. Red has never asked/wanted/needed help, it would just be a nice gift to show appreciation. Nobody HAS TO donate if they don’t want to. Nobody wants to make it a buy-in contest. This is just a good way to raise money for a donation.

Totally agree, just a slush to help offset for red . Not a big check from Ed McMahon to the winners. I’m pretty sure that was the original intent all along. I like the idea of an inconspicuous link in the store somewhere........ @redsquirrel , it’s your baby that’s all up to you. Just wanted you to know a lot of us would be happy to donate to the cause / not buying shares or anything just a little coin your way.
