2018 Live from the saddle....

This is awesome to watch....as I sit here doing laundry with scent free soap waiting for my season to open.

Sika down during first ever saddle hunt!

Well, I wasn’t hunting... but I prepped a tree for acorn drop.

Also... the slough I was paddling across never got over 6 inches deep. It was brutal. I spent half the time walking the kayak in knee deep mud, plus 2 inches of water.
I looked back at one point and realized every paddle stroke was leaving mounds of mud piled above water level.

Been in the tree for about 2 hrs, long day getting better with every acorn drop. Nothing yet but it's still early, and hot. Figured I'd better get a hunt in before the hurricane hits

Ended up not seeing any deer, but it was my first hunt in, what about 10 years without using the old ameristep ring o steps. Used a lone wolf hand climber seat, which was excellent on the feet for ~4.5 hours I was out. Much more comfortable IMO. Needs some tweaks to make it a better climbing method, the strap likes to snag. Saw some folks put some tubing to round off the edges so I'll try that next. I'll still carry bolts for limby trees.

Waiting on my Mantis so had to use my Lone Wolf climber....Our season opened last Saturday but due to Hurricane prep at beach house and here at home as well as a funeral on Saturday I could not get into tree until yesterday afternoon. Saw a small 8 point with about a 13 - 14 inch inside spread with about 4 - 5 inch tines, a spike, 2 does and a spotted fawn with the biggest antler nubs I've ever seen on a spotted fawn lol - Here's a pic of two of my target bucks in the area I hunted yesterday afternoon - I'm really hoping I can get one of them from the saddle but it better come soon for that to happen lol ....

Congrats on the Sika, gotta tell us how it tastes!

And what kind of canoe is that? I'm looking to upgrade from my kayak and that looks like what I'm searching for!
Thanks brotha. Dude no joke that sika tastes unreal, its particularly tender. Canoe is an old town from the early 90's. It been in my family so long no one can remember the model. Its kinda heavy but has been through hell and is extremely stable, I use it like a beefy paddle board all the time.
