2020 turkey season

Finally got my first PA bird this morning, and on public land to boot. Perfect scenario, located him with the crow call, stalked into range and called him in with the mouth call. I've shot bigger birds but this is my favorite by far.

Good cold clear morning, I bet they were talkative today! Congrats on the gobbler!

For me 2020 was the best turkey season in 20+ years. My oldest son got his first bird and we managed too double up that morning. His bird was huge compared too mine that’s okay I will take that every time. He killed a 24# 12 1/2” beard with
1 5/8” spurs mine had 6” beard. Very next day I tagged out killing my 4th bearded hen over my 20 years of turkey hunting. Late that week called in another bird 10”+ beard my son got excited shot and missed. We tried hard to fill his last tag but came up short.

Wow that’s a monster bird, never heard of a 12” beard. Best part is the experience of hunting with your son. I’m sure he will fondly remember that the rest of his life. Congratulations

I knew the bird was big when he came in but didn’t realize he was that big. I’m having that one mounted for him. The experience was truly amazing and he is hooked on turkey hunting now....lol. I did tell him he may never kill another one like that. I have been turkey hunting 20+ years and have not .

So I took a goose egg for turkeys Killed. But we enjoyed a good almost 45min hunt.

Ended the season with the one Tom. I was about 2 seconds away from tagging another one on public, he was coming in on a rope and spooked about 35 yards out as I was about to pull the trigger. Still an awesome experience, I worked him for about and hour and a half, setting up 4 different times within 150 yards, and called him into range with the mouth call.
Already getting ready for next season. I watched one of Catman's videos on making a wingbone call, so I gave it a shot. Turned out pretty decent for the first attempt. Going to need some practice to make it sound realistic, but I figure having a unique sound will be helpful hunting public land where the birds get used to the box and pot calls pretty early in the season.
