What goals do you have for the coming year? I have four.

I am able to hunt a military post. They have a program to reduce deer, hog/vehicles accidents by bow hunting specific areas near houses, grocery stores, and unit buildings. You must qualify by taking a safety brief AND shooting from an elevated platform, hit 2/3 arrows in an 8 inch paper plate at 30 yards for compound and 20 for traditional. GOAL: Qualify with my Gamemaster 2 trad recurve to hunt these areas. I've been qualifying with my compound for over 8 years. I've been practicing traditional for almost a year. You get 2 chances to qualify.

GOAL: Try hunting using my Novix Helo and my saddle to see if it works. Success is being comfortable in the stand, and getting up and down.

GOAL: Scout/hunt but be okay if I find no sign to set up on. Never sit the same spot more than once.

GOAL: Harvest a deer with my trad bow.

We are a little over 90 days til bow season opens in GA. Woohoo!

I think this year is gonna be fill the freezer, and try to process my own. Meat prices don't seem to be going down. So I really need to make sure I have plenty of deer meat in the freezer. Two does on ice before Halloween. Then work on a big boy.

Stay in current romantic relationship, in spite of my hunting habit.

Shoot a bigger buck than I have before.

Kill a second elk or locate and call one in for a hunting partner.

Fill every freezer I have, and those of as many friends and family as possible.

No mercy.

Same plan here. We had our first kid 2 years ago and I am in fill the freezer as quickly as possible mode.

I'm as green as someone can be, so just kill and recover one. Keeping it simple. Hopefully with my compound but I've got a crossgun and a new rifle if i need them, and I may. If i can't bring one home, I want to make awesome snack sticks, summer sausage and/or jerky for my more successful friends. I've been working on processing for a while now :)

learn more, shoot as many deer as i'm able/want to. currently that nuber is uncapped, i'd love to be in the position to consider capping it, but with a grand total of one under my belt, trying to have realistic expectations. hopefully i can shoot one eligible for the d@asdkg;jafghasld contest lol i'm not bitter about last year at all

Keep a mobile hunting mindset and get back to the fundamentals of scouting, finding the deer and setting up properly for a shot. Scout until I find a high percentage spot and hunt it. Don't hunt a spot that isn't high percentage, kill deer, repeat. Keep learning the lessons the deer are teaching me.

Hunt hard but have fun.
