2023 Fishing Thread

Got into a couple rainbows tonight in the backyard. I can almost taste the smoked trout dip. Backyard pic added because I'm sitting out here with a cocktail feeling good.

I'm more of a crappie/perch/walleye guy but my dad and fiance like smoked trout so I make a batch of them and some dip whenever I can get on a few, usually when they do spring stocking around here. Living on one of the better trout creeks in the area as well helps make it easy.

Finally got the boat out Sunday afternoon, only jigged up one small laker. The wind kicked up pretty good and I had to get little man home for bed. I found the mother lode of fish on the sonar cruising around on the way back to the dock. If I can get through enough work this week I intend to go back Friday and put a hurting on them. I've only dabbled at this lake and it's defeated me time and time again. I am going to try to get out there a few times this spring and really learn it, I owe it a couple beatdowns for all the ones it's given me.

I haven't got to fish at all except the little small bass I catch in the pond while I'm on break at work..... But I'm playing hookie tomorrow and we going 40-60 miles out into 150-200 foot of water and see what happens. Trolling is probably my least favorite type of fishing but I haven't been on the water in forever so hard to turn down the offer. Mahi and wahoo is the target but anything can happen

Northeast OH ain’t all bad! prolly only eat about 1 of every 10 or 15 steelhead I catch though.
Interesting thing, 100’ above me in the fishing picture was an eagles nest, last night the oak broke off at the base of the trunk, with the tree and the nest crashing down into the river, the pair did have an eaglet in there. 18EC7A3F-CF22-4F21-828E-0CBD40469C1D.jpeg0F46B0B4-FE88-4922-943A-657F49332B5D.jpeg
