Just learning how to fly fish this summer. Went to a local pond w a 3wt and had a ton of fun.
I owned a mizuchi. It caught fish. It seemed impressively light and sensitive until I played with other brands. I think they're ok.
Ok thanks. I literally don’t know anything about it. I’ve watched a few videos and that’s it. I’d love to be able to carry one in or on a daypack and catch fish while I’m out and about.

I've fished a lot of awesome places this year with mine. They're super portable and easy to use, and you can't beat how delicately they present flies. They're super effective.
When I was younger, I landed a ton of those guys on my cheap fly rod combo I got from Meijer. I would like to get back into it, but I need another time consumption hobby like I need a hole in the head..lol.
I’ve had a blast so far. Finally caught some river fish, some smallies and more blue gill. 3 wt definitely makes it more fun.
I don't fish, unless I'm in my kayak. I've always caught more fish and bigger fish, while fishing in my kayak. 
I guess, it just makes sense, I'm right out there where the fish are and are biting. I typically troll, while paddling with my 2 rods in rod holders. It's pretty obvious when I get a strike and I just take another stroke or two, to make sure the fish is hooked. They all seem to fall for crank baits of various sizes and colors!

We call those Gaspergou or fresh water drum. Similar but slightly different and definitely not as good to eat but make good cut bait. That is pretty decent sized one. Nice catchI caught a redfish to. This is a Redfish isn’t it?

My personal best smallie on a 5wt! Holy crap that was fun!
My son and I helped with a catch, clean, and cook catfish clinic this past Friday. It was hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation and was free to attend. We had several participants catch their first fish EVER including one girl that caught a 5lb channel cat. We had a great time and finished up with a fish fry so everyone could eat their catch.
I have spent all my time fishing this year. Done none of the usual hunting prep. Hell I just started visiting this site. Missed the contest entry.

Went to the opening week of the guided ice fishing season for Lake of the Woods, near the Canadian border of Minnesota, on Thursday. There was a ton of houses out, and they were chipping at ice heaves with chisels and picks to get more further out.
Caught myself a nice mess of saugers and a few walleye, including this 21 Inch slot fish.

Just been catching up, I've apparently missed the heyday of this thread. I picked up a cheapo lifetime yukon 11ft 6in kayak last year from Walmart in November for like $325. Heck of a deal. I don't have a vehicle capable of towing a boat right now, so I found an alternative.
I found myself a cheap trolling motor on fb marketplace and mounted it. Now because it's engine propelled I have to register it like a boat in my state, but i have loved it, it's a killing machine. I have to remove the motor and car top it every time, but it's simple enough, just takes a little time. When the seasons changed (kinda), i made a grass cover and I used it for duck hunting too.

Is it worth fishing if there is no ice? Seems we don't get ice like we use to in lower Mi these days. I kinda ask if I should pull the boat out. I have fished a few times late October. But never caught anything. Anyone have good luck doing it? What's the first thing you will usually try? Lakes near by have large mouths, pike and pan fish mostly. Wonder if I should explore it more. Or not bother. But 40-50 deg can be a nice afternoon if dressed correctly..
I have a similar dilemma here in southern New England, safe ice season has been brief and sometimes non existent. Because I only have a canoe and small row boat I tend to stay off the water once the water temp is cold. So I’ve been considering shore fishing rivers and streams for trout.
Okay, let’s say I have some gift certs and have been looking to get my first fishing pole. I know nothing about fishing but I enjoy doing it and I have a 3/4-acre pond on the property with a gang of stocked bass, crappie, etc.

Ugly stick Gx2 combo. I have a few and for the price are pretty hard to beat. That 5' light action to me is pretty sensitive. 4 or 6 lb line is plenty. The 4 will probably Handel everything just fine. Don't over fill the spool. Not sure about winter colder water. But when it's warmer the easiest thing I have found and simple. Tie your hook on, leave a good length of line hanging out. Tie a loop in it and put a small weight on it. Or put the weight on and tie it in. Either way. Weight hangs down how ever far past the hook. Add worm, minnow, bait. What ever. Toss out, slow real back in. Simple, and quick to tie on. Bobbers are great for kids. But I usually spend more time taking out tangles. That is pretty quick to replace. Small jigs with Berkeley Power bait is another go to for me.
Few easy ideas. Some days things work better than others.
