2023: Tethrd Ultralock Saddle (Formerly, the LockDown)

Stretch aspect of the saddle seat is interesting, different than most pleated saddles.
If you like a bare saddle with no pouches then this one is probably not for you. I do see a lot of people on-line that like pouches attached to their saddle……so there probably is a market for the Lockdown.

I am a Cruzr XC fan with minimal pouches and gear attached to my saddle myself, so it probably wouldn’t work for me….. but I am intrigued about the comfort of the seat stretch design.

I think the expanding pleat should do something for hip pinch and overall comfort. I find myself adjusting the amount of pleat on my orion with the adjustment straps for different situations such as different trees and what I am standing on like my UP or EDP or both. I did not see that the the lock down pleat allows for you to open it half way.

I wonder how much that stretch panel will need adjustment during a hunt. Like is it going to retract every time you get the slightest amount of slack in your tether? Also what saddle are they referring to that doesn't stay folded and turns into a XXL? The flex maybe? My XC doesn't do that.

I may be wrong but …… your body weight may expand the elastic once weight is put in the saddle.

Some will like product X, others won’t. Options are never bad. Sedans aren’t for me, I drive/need a truck. But I spend zero time complaining about auto manufacturers that make sedans…just saying.

Ok… but why would they go from this “modular” mantra they have been pushing since 2018 and even with the release of the FAS pack. Now you are forced to have these giant pouches on your saddle in the way of your lineman’s loops. It’s a terrible decision.

I am all for a pleated saddle. I like that. Give that to me with out the extra crap!

just a thought here.. it's all part of their plan.. They release a saddle(or any item for that matter) that may have excellent comfort but lacks the modular aspect one desires. The next one that comes out and they will say, "you spoke up and we listened". Here is our new "game changing" saddle(and it be this one with a modular system).

It seems like everything released is just off from missing what everyone wants. We can call it poor R/D, or it could be excellent marketing..

Honestly that seems perfect for early season.. but once I'm carrying in extra layers, I don't think that's an option.. but yeah.. if I was in GA or somewhere down south, that thing looks pretty much like a more streamlined version of my early season kit.
This is what I was thinking. I am from the south and if the belt stays and doesn’t sag, and I didn’t need a pack, this could be great.

I really don’t “need” a new saddle though….

If there was a mesh vest with molle attachment points incorporated into the shoulder suspender like a load bearing vest it would be sweet but hard to swallow price

I always thought and still do that there needs to be a purpose built "saddle suit" something with upper torso storage options and load bearing system and lower saddle built in.

This is close as I have seen u can just buy with piecing together...I won't be buying 1 but I do like it and the direction it's going

I had the same thought. The elastic doesn't do anything for setting the pleat length. Tx5's pleated Lonestar stays closed or open without any strapping, so not really a problem to solve there. And the buckle adjustable webbing strap pleated saddles (was Jamie's Orion the first?) offer dial it in precision.

Elastic is new approach, but is it better? Besides, any saddle with top and bottom MOLLE can be made to have a Tethrd "Bungee Butt".

Sure seems to be a point of pride for them. I guess some may like it.

As with everything else, some will love it and others will hate it. IMO, the important thing is they are trying to do SOMETHING, because IMO their saddles have been getting steamrolled for the last year or so. The word Phantom and comfort don’t appear in the same sentence in any post very often.

I am not sure if Jamie's was first for a single panel, maybe someone else knows the history.
