2023 Turkey Hunting Thread

They look slick. I'm a sucker for OG Greanleaf

If I bought one, it will be this summer/fall in greanleaf. Apparently an indian creek or jebbs .520 and 1 1/2 oz #9.5 throws a hammer pattern. A lot of people's patterns show the .525 throws better pattern with #9
Ya I saw some 28 patterning last night while I was watching the 410 stuff. They are just a special little gun. I can’t wait to get this little 410 dialed in and blast a bird. Headed to Ga next weekend to try and put a notch in it.

So for those who have the Carlson’s 20gauge TSS choke which of the shot sizes do you recommend? I saw that the Carlson’s TSS tube was designed specifically for the Federal TSS loads…. Are you confident this will pattern well? I also saw DIY Hunter teary were using BurgessCreek TSS loads in both 12 and 20 gauge has anyone tried this? It’s very difficult to justify $60 a box for me being a an old geezer used to $4.00 for a box of 10 shells.

#9, but with that said I would suggest finding a shell/choke combo that 12 ga likes out to 40 yards and keep shooting the cheap shells. I shot them for years without complaint.

Little did he know he was about to die

Hopefully this doesn't jinx me but if I get a bird what's the procedure for saving feathers for arrows? I'm probably not moving of my wheelies but I'm interested in utilizing all I can

I take the wings off at the joint, and borax the end.
That's whwre I leave it until I'm ready to either strip feathers or remove wing bones for calls.

Beyond that I'm no help cause I am usually using the wings for spiral wrapped flu flu arrows.

Just to be clear, the joint in question would be at the body? I think. Like disjoint at the arm pit and put that end in borax?

I very much appreciate the advice!

I wouldn’t go beyond 40 but that’s not bad. The black is a 12” circle. Don’t make fun of the Goonies turkey drawing, the store didn’t have Turkey head targets.

That'll do. My stevens and Indiana creek .385 shoot similar with 7/8 oz #9.5

I kind of want to try 10's just out if curiosity

I have some apex coming along with some browning tss and when it’s back in stock I’ll grab some verdict. Try a bunch. I’m going grab a choke or two from few manufacturers.
