I agree, here in NY they try to time it (May1st) so most of the hens have been bred before the season starts in earnest so we are usually starting our season in between the two major peaks of spring gobbling activity. 85% of the time you hear roost gobbling then nothing much after fly down. As the hens begin to want to sneak off to lay, it gets better and later morning gobbling picks up. I’m more of a purist and rely on patience and intermittent calling to bring them in. I may pick up my run and gun game on public more this spring though or if I pop over the border for a few hunts.
MD has noon cutoff. I hate it! Last 10 days or so of the season is all day though. I've only shot one bird heading back to roost since I started hunting though. It is a decent tactic if you know the roost but they usually come back silent. At that point in the season they've been howled and hooted at by a million hunters tho and dont talk much anyway. And I rarely hear them on the roost in the evening in md wherever I am hunting. Always funny listening to all the fake owls echoing throughout the woods tho haha.Yall have a noon cutoff time right? Or is that Pennsylvania?
Yes sir! NY is 1/2 hour before sunrise till noon in the spring. Not sure about PA.Yall have a noon cutoff time right? Or is that Pennsylvania?

Lewis Stowe. He passed away this past year. I would always send him pictures of the birds I killed with his calls. I hope the phone number is still in the family because I sent him a picture of that one too.
I still do and will continue to do so!No doubt. I used to slam on brakes when I did see a road kill turkey so I could jump out and cut off the wings if it was a hen, lol
