2024-25 Traditional Kills

Hey @GCTerpfan obviously the string tracker worked out for him. Did the string break along the way or get wrapped up in anything?

Nice job! Congrats! What’s @btaylor’s broadhead?

It’s a broadhead @BTaylor designed and had a couple made. He’s posted about it on here a few of times. After a lot of begging, pleading and promising him the left wing of every turkey I kill for the rest of my life he sent me one last year. I’ve killed three deer with it and it’s impressed me every time.

Way to go!! Did you get an exit?

No, she turned inside out like they sometimes do. I ended up with that high entrance and the broadhead somehow buried into her lower spine between the shoulder blades. She stumbled about 40 yds and was down for good. I had a blood trail like a typical low exit heart shot with only that one high entrance hole.

I have no explanation for the blood trail. I have hit one deer and one hog high and the blood trails were super easy. Buddy killed a big hog with one and same thing, high hit no exit and we could follow it about as fast as you could walk.

First doe of Ky season had a 6pt come in just getting ready to shoot him!Screenshot_20240910-155853_Gallery.jpg and this doe came in and ran him off so she gave me a 12y shot. She won't do that again!! Shot with my new 3 blade VPA. Also tradtracker with new HD white string broke at 80y.

Yeah the 6pt didn't want anything to do with her! I watched the buck for 20min before he finally came in then she come crashing through some thick stuff and scared the 6pt he was very spooky anyway!! Probably would have jumped the string.

What a roller coaster ride this hunting season has been so far.

Back story…I shot this a buck Saturday Evening. High hit although I thought I hit him good. Tracked good blood for 200yds and lost it. Then seen my lighted nock on the opposite ridge moving over 500yds from last blood. Gave him time and searched all night and all the next day. Nothing.

Monday evening I was surprised when I got a trail cam pic of him around 6pm. So today after work I had to get in the stand. Low and behold he came in behind me, still bleeding from the shot on Saturday I might add, and presented with a shot at 14 yds. Watched him fall 40yds out.

Still waited over an hr. before walking up to him and that tough son of a gun was still breathing. Had to finish him off with another shot.

I will add as a hunter that it sucks seeing one suffer. But it happens. Talk about the High of highs and the low of lows but still happy to place my tag on him. I love this traditional archery. It’s not for the faint of heart…

Big thanks to Aj, Joel, and Larry (aka the 3 stooges) for helping me get him out the woods.
