2024 Off-Season Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

It's ok to get multiple goals.

Pick a fast goal, a less fast goal, and then settle in on the perfect goal in the middle of those two.
If you are in the race and feeling good, adjust to the faster one. If you are having a rough time, adjust to the slower one.

Just don't make a decision about which goal too early in the race.

Ran 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday. More like a decent jog for you runners. Took 27 minutes but it was all at a 6% incline. There was exactly nothing enjoyable about it. I simply do not understand why folks enjoy running. I would rather piss on an electric fence but it is supposed to be good for me, so they say.

If it makes you feel any better 45 mins for 8000m on the rower was equally uninspiring! Hiked 3 miles with the pups & then headed to the gym before dinner. Haven’t lifted for 3 days my knee was a bit gimpy with a little fluid on the back & up next in the rotation was deadlift/ back then legs. In hindsight I should’ve just skipped & done upper body……. Been trying to not overdo it & mess up my streak on day 30 of 75

45 minutes on a rower is no joke. I'm good for about 30 minutes before my butt hurts so bad I have to get off of it. I enjoy the rowing though.

I did 8 miles with the center 4 being hill repeats. not a fan
On the bright side it was upper 50's and felt like spring

Tomorrow is an easy 3 and then strength. I'm probably going to do the treadmill for the 3 because of rain. I don't always mind running in the rain but just not feeling it as of right now.

Yesterday we did a workout the wife came up with from somewhere. 7 rounds of 7 reps each movement, burpees, air squats, sit ups, leg lifts, push ups, lunges. Finished with 10 minutes cardio on the arc trainer.

Uggh that sounds lovely!!! Nice work
With only a 10-15 second pause between rounds it kept the heart rate up and caused a good bit of dripping. It was actually a reasonably enjoyable workout though, no real bad suck factor. I was just happy she didnt have manmakers and devil press as 2 of the movements. That we be more normal for her.

Standard issue….too much too fast. Tore my shoulder up doing dips. Ortho exam in a week prolly rotator cuff repair after that. Sucks getting old.…but it’s better than not getting any older!
Hang in there & yes much better than the alternative.
