I read or heard for bowhunting you have to take an archery proficiency test by shooting your bow? Is that true?Non resident hunting license and a non resident either sex deer tag is all you need
All you have to attest to when you buy your license is that you’ve previously taken a hunters safety course or have owned a license in another state. Click yes and onto the next pageI read or heard for bowhunting you have to take an archery proficiency test by shooting your bow? Is that true?
No worries, and thank you. When I looked to my right he was 30 yds and closing! And truthfully, right when I saw him I pulled back and just held my pin on that does trail while hiding behind the tree so I saw him for a second until he was in my sight windowI got on thier site and I’m sorry for getting this thread off topic that was rude of me. My apologies Sir. Thats a dandy buck it must have been a wild ride seeing him come into bow range!!!
I’m from northeastern Ohio and there’s not much public up here… if you’re looking for public its going to be another 2-4 hours or so south.
I feel like a new record comes out every year there, it’s crazyWow, that’s a tank! That’s what people think of when Ohio big bucks come to mind. Congrats!

Won’t ask specifics but have you had “good hunts” there? I always hear (1) there’s a ton of pressure, and (2) but there’s some big ones way back in. But I have no idea what the truth is. I live near Cleveland mainly hunt Ashtabula, one trip to southern Ohio each year.I agree the better public land is down south but there’s a lot of public in Trumbull County. I guess I’m fortunate that I live less than a mile from the Grand River Wildlife Area which is at least 7,000 acres. Granted, there’s a lot of pressure (Amish and otherwise) but it is possible to get away from people.

So you were at tar hollow huh? lolAwesome buck! Congrats. My first time hunting in Ohio this year as well and obviously you have it figured out much better than I do, all I can find is Amish unloading by the van loads in ever spot I have gone. I am really glad to hear someone on here has done it their first time out there! Again, congrats!
You can find big deer in the flats. I just got home from out there yesterday. We were surrounded by Massachusetts and Connecticut plates all week. Except for one small little piece that we hunted Saturday and Sunday night and then again on Wednesday and there was a guy there from nyWhat I noticed driving by the public on my trip was mon-thur had very limited vehicles.
