I use a platform but typically put four squirrel steps around that back a few inches above the platform

Platform. EDP and Perch

I also just cut down one of my Novix sticks to 12” and have a flat Monarch on it. Only weights 2.5 lbs and I’m excited to try it now that’s it’s a few inches shorter

I don't think I could hunt or last for very long on just a ROS. I have large feet, I need a platform. I carry in on my back with a x strap and its the only thing I pull up the tree.

ROS 100%. I think the major factor in being able to use a ROS is being primarily a sitter, not a leaner. All the steps are there for is to rest my feet on and as leverage to move around the tree. My saddle does 90% of the work.

Not trying to highjack the thread, but this kinda sounds similar to what I'm thinking of using my climbing harness with linesman belt and two tethers one for each leg to climb a tree and setup my Novix Helo - I'll repel down using my treestand wingman ... with the wingman attached I might not need the linesman belt??

^^^ I’m trying to picture what you are up to.
It’s sounds like you are over complicating tree climbing?

Just 2TC...

I'm trying to picture retrieving that almost pound and a half chunk of metal outta the tree...be sure and wear a helmet. there's much cheaper, easier, lighter ways to rappel outta a tree..

This is my “soft platform” setup in case I’m an idiot and leave my platform stuff at home.

For those that 2TC, picture a double foot loop both to climb and act as a platform. It works well for a strongside shot but sucks for most other shots.

Maybe you could explain that differently? What do you mean by "rappel down using my treestand wingman"?

I think he's talking about that safety decent thingy for full body harness stand hunters...it's been discussed on here before. The promo videos show some guy stepping off a stand and it slowly lowers to the ground. So u either attach the bracket/mechanism thing to the trunk and have to retrieve or maybe u hook to ur bridge? I'm kinda confused myself

Can you add an “I haven’t 2TC’d yet” option. I’d like to see the results…….kinda feeling left out. It’s certainly a method worth trying. Especially since it can be done a few different ways and I certainly have everything needed. Please and thank you!
