.5 and small trees

Try hunting a crooked tree with a Windwalker, I did that once and never hunted in one again so I sold it and bought a .5 that has platform and seat leveling and you can set it up in almost any tree.

.5 is the bomb. If your going to use it as a hybrid I recommend a second strap for side pressure. However I found throughout this season that I never needed the second strap because I almost never need to use my saddle, like a saddle, when in this stand. I found myself setting up lower in trees with more cover than I would have historically picked due to the ease of hanging this stand and every setup provided me with awesome shot opportunities all the way around me without the aid of my saddle to get into position.

Are you guys comfortable with the regular .5 or are you upgrading the seat size? I really want to pull the trigger but I’m afraid it’s going to be small or uncomfortable.

I’m 5’8” 185lb and the regular post height and seat size are perfect IMO my buddy went with the mesh seat and I preferred mine…

I’m 5’11” 190 and I prefer the standard post with the medium seat.
I didn’t have any issues with the standard seat, I just wanted to upgrade to the medium so I have more room on the pack frame shelf and also it also gives me more room to use the seat to kneel against when using it as a hybrid.
Whatever you do I would keep the standard post length ,the longer post will not lock into the platform.

Talking about small Vs, I bought my grandson an XOP Air Raid because the vanish has a lousy little v.
Otherwise I would of purchased the vanish.
Also the 21 in seat height maybe nice to shoot off of but for people under 6 foot its a bit high for long sits in my opinion.
If they offered a 18 or 19 inch post it would kill me to buy him one.
They should offer post options and keep the wide V thru the line.

Never thought about seat size for knee space. I'm only 5'6" so it's the standard post for me. That's one reason I didn't consider the .75 and a few other stands, because you can only get the 18" seat post in the .5. I think 20" or 22" would be too high for my knees, and I sit a lot so that's important to me. Really, you could probably go with the largest seat, and it wouldn't really change much. May add a few ounces but riding in the pack position it's still as out of the way as the small seat.

I’ve had the .5 a couple seasons, tkbooner above nailed it, just get the .5 and be done with it, if I had to do it over again I would probably get the medium seat as well, maybe not I really have no complaints, I’m almost 6’1” and find the seat post height to be perfect for when I’m in my saddle running it as a hybrid for my knees, I have the extra thick cushion, I bought mine the same way when they had the gift card discount a couple years ago and got 4 mini sticks with a bunch of other stuff, all of the things I’ve bought the past few years my LWCG has not been for sale, I literally cleaned house of everything else I owned and have stuck with my .5 and Ambush, and I have no desire to change.

What kind of saddles are you guys running with yours? Thinking about trying the drey/ mini drey or the tx5 minimalist. Leaning towards the mini drey. I'm also getting rid of the rest of my saddle gear and selling a kidney to fund all this, but I think it'll be worth it.

I really like the rope belt and locking g hooks on the classic 2. Latitude is having a solid sale on it right now too. I've been using an h2 for the last 3 or 4 years. It's a nice saddle but I want to give something else a try.

I had issues with the .5 on small trees. I sold it specifically for that reason. If the beast stand had more leveling on the post, it would be far superior. As they’re both sold, I still prefer the beast because of that v.

An amsteel whoopie sling gives you more adjustment than you’ll ever need. And shaves 1/2 a pound off the stand weight…

What issues did you have? My .5 had more problems with bigger trees It would kick out some times with one strap. I really like the stand just wish it had a wide V and teeth all the way to the center.

If it had teeth all the way to the center I think it would be great. It would spin or rotate on small trees.

The .5 is a great stand just could be really great with a few changes! All sead I ordered a new one mostly for the 18in seat post and saddle hunting. Beast stand seat was to hight for me and was hurting my back.

Have you gotten to try the saddle with your new .5? I saw that we're close to the same height and I'm wondering how well your knees reach the seat. Mine measure about 18 inches from the ground to the middle of the knee so I'm not quite sure if my knees will even reach the seat comfortably. If that's the case, I should probably reconsider the .75. I feel like I'm going to want to use it as a normal stand quite a bit too. This is a tough decision, ha. I've got to order this stuff soon.
