.5 and small trees

Have you gotten to try the saddle with your new .5? I saw that we're close to the same height and I'm wondering how well your knees reach the seat. Mine measure about 18 inches from the ground to the middle of the knee so I'm not quite sure if my knees will even reach the seat comfortably. If that's the case, I should probably reconsider the .75. I feel like I'm going to want to use it as a normal stand quite a bit too. This is a tough decision, ha. I've got to order this stuff soon.
No I use the .5 with a rock harnesses and as a regular stand never used the seat that way.

Someone posted that since the .75 is longer it will work better with a hip belt.
I went with a .75 for treestand use.

Good to hear, KY. And thanks for the input, guys. I sit the majority of the time in the saddle and tree stand. Just trying to figure out what I'd rather have. The option to kneel on the .5's 18in seat but having the shorter platform for tree stand use. Or having the extra platform of the .75 but only being able to lean if I want to use a saddle with it, which is a little disappointing for me. But I don't know if my knees will even reach the .5's seat comfortably. My knees are only 18in to the middle of them so it's hard to get an idea of where they will sit on the seat. And if I can't comfortably kneel on the .5, there really isn't any reason for me to not go with the .75. I'm not too concerned about compactness or weight considering they aren't too far off of each other. You mean a hip belt for transport geo?

The waist belt attaches the same/just fine to either the .5 or .75. They are the same 16.5” in width at the widest part of the platform. The difference is in the platform length. The .75’s 3” of additional platform length make it much better (IME) for carrying a heavier load. Neither one is a load carrier, per se, but the extra length of the .75’s platform does a much better job of transferring some of the weight of whatever you are carrying from your shoulders to your hips. Said differently: when you are using the .5 to carry your stand, sticks, and backpack, it feels like almost all of the weight is resting on your shoulders. The .75 feels better because you are able to get some load lift, better distributing the weight into your shoulders and waist. Your shoulders don’t carry all the weight.

Oh….I don’t think that most people who use the .5 as a hybrid kneel on top of the seat. (But maybe some do?!). I believe that most flip the seat up, flop the cushion over to the other side so it’s on the bottom side of the seat, and use the seat as a cushion to rest their legs against while in the sitting position while wearing their saddle. Kind of replaces the need to wear knee pads, and gives you some comfort while in the seated position in your saddle, resting your knees against the pad.

@Maverick1 explained it well. In the pic the centerline of the waist belt is even with the bottom edge of the .75 platform. Notice where the top of the shoulder straps attach to the stand. The distance between these two attachment points is 21". My torso length is also 21" so the stand carries weight well for me. If this was reduced by 3" it would not work as well for me.Screenshot_20230605_154417_Gallery.jpg

Would somebody be able to measure from the platform of the .5 to the middle of the seat with it flipped up. Just curious what that measurement is. I'm hoping to get a .5 to try for the coming season

I get what you're saying about the waste belt. I wasn't planning on running one at first. Anyone know if lwcg is going to make a new waste belt to go with their updated straps?

And I meant kneeling on the seat when it's flipped up maverick. Sorry for the confusion. Arrowsquirrel and geofish are getting at what I needed.

So, it sounds like it'll be close for me if the .5 is around 22" to the middle of the seat. I know when I would kneel against the tree in the saddle, I would usually be on my toes a bit so that might get me a couple of inches closer. I don't have a saddle to test that at the moment. Thanks for the measurements geo.

18" to the bottom, 26" to the top.
