6.8mm V Tac Prusik Slipping?

Anyone have issues with the 6.8 mm V Tac Prusik Knot slipping with the 8 mm Sterling Oplux? I used the 8 mm Sterling Oplux from Wild Edge last year with a Ropeman 2 Ascender for my lineman's rope and liked it so much I decided to get another to use as my Tether.

I never liked the Ropemans that much and wasn't thrilled about paying $63 for the Kong Duck so figured id go the simple route and use the 6.8 mm V Tac Prusik with the Poor Mans Ascender Wild Edge sells as I used Prusiks for at least a decade prior to getting into the Ropemans. Problem is that while using the Sterling Oplux Tether today while trying out my new Trophyline Mission Platform, which is awesome, the V Tac Prusik would bite for a bit then slowly start to slide down the Tether? I have NEVER had a prusik do this to me ever so I started to test it and it would continually start to slip to the point it would slide all the way down to my stopper knot when i would apply my full weight to it or try to move around to the other side of the tree.

Needless to say, not very confidence inspiring for a tether you are relying on to keep you from falling 20 ft in the dark. Just wondering if anyone else has noted this same issue or if for whatever reason I have an anomaly? My only thought is the 1.2 mm difference isn't significant enough to bite as hard as it needs to? I always used like 7 or 8 mm Prusik with 12-13 mm climbing rope in the past.

Thoughts?

I've been using for the past month without issue on my tether and LB.

Mine slipped at first when I was playing around with it in my backyard but it only happened once or twice and has been solid ever since (maybe 10 practice climbs since then). Still, I always give it a hard yank and test it with my lineman's belt still on just to make sure. It was on my bridge that came with my kestrel flex and as my first experience with climbing gear let alone using a saddle it was not a comforting start.

Yes I did and the majority said 6.8mm is too large for 8mm rope.

One cause of the slipping might be one of the eyes wasn’t being loaded from faulty tying. If the Prusik is tied like the left below, once it rotates down when weighted, the legs become uneven, like the right one. Some hitches also need a couple cycles of sliding it up and down to self adjust to work the best.

Thanks but my prusik is a continuous loop.
When I switched to 6mm prusic. No more issues.

Just bite the bullet bro get you a kong duck. Its worth every cent

Nothing to do with money. 100% to do with safety. I am not telling other people what to do. I am just making my own decisions. No way I would use any mechanical device like a Duck.

I don't use them, either. In all my high angle training we were encouraged not to use them unless it was backed up with a friction hitch.

OP the rule of thumb is a minimum of 2mm smaller on your friction hitch cord than your main line.
