8mm Oplux questions & uses

I’ve used oplux for everything now for awhile. What I found was best for me was taking aBeal Jammy 5.5mm 35cm and cut it into a straight piece of rope. I then tied a halyard hitch to my tether beiner, then just a simple Blake’s hitch on the oplux. It grabs really well and reliable for me.
Pic please sir?

Ditto on a pic! I think I get what you are doing, but was not familiar with the halyard. Any strength concerns using it in a climbing situation, just saw it is used in sailing a lot in a quick glance.

One of my biggest reasons with going to a Blake’s hitch over a prussic or klemhiest was the big sewn section on the jammy. I was not a huge fan of the section that was sewn because of the size and stiffness. Also the Blake’s hitch is easy to operate and I’ve never had a problem with it not catching.

@Bwhana i have used it a bunch on multiple occasions in a climbing situation and never had a problem. Also it is the knot that aerohunter sold connecting the bridge to the beiner.
I do climb on the same style of setup everyday for work and it always performs well.
I also use that knot on my bridge because it constricts around the bridge loop and allows for some “micro adjust”

I run oplux for my tether and linesman belt when I use one. I pair it with a Kong duck. I honestly prefer a ropeman 1 over a duck but I like oplux so much I can live with using a duck. It's so compact and convenient to use.

I’m gonna be in the same boat

Preferring Ropeman1 but craving the compactness of 8mm

Living with the Kong isn't bad. Once I set my tether I rarely mess with it after that. The duck falls short while used on a linesman belt because it can be noisy if your not careful. Other than that I really have no complaints. But then again most of the ways I climb doesn't require a linesman belt

I’ll be choosing between 9mm with R1 & 8mm Oplux with kong duck or prusik
I’m sure I’ll end up buying all of it anyway
Go with Oplux 8mm....it is so small.

The duck can be stealth stripped up and be just as quiet as a ropeman. Tip: put the stealth strip on and use a soldering pen to cut it around things and the edges.

So then is the noise external from contacting biner ?

Or does it have an internal noise while rope moves thru?

Zero internal noise from rope moving through. all the noise is from biner contact. I will post a pic tonight of how I stealthed my Kong, maybe even a video. Many will disagree with me and that's fine, but a properly stealth stripped Kong Duck is superior to the Ropeman 1 for MY USES. That's just me.

Awesome info

Thanks for the help

I guess I always assumed that the talk about kong duck noise was internal

Did that and it came off and made a horrible mess
